dave matthews and sting on the same stage...at the same time..singing together...wow. that was enough for me. i was a bit disappointed that dido didn't win that one over aguilera, though.
the grammy's are a joke now they sold out long time ago it is no longer about Musical Acheivment but a popularity contest ala MTV awards this is evident by the Grammy's making sure to air every Rap / Hip Hop award but leaving out all the Rock/heavy/alternative catagories I give a crap about I'm sorry but an Outcast song that is 95% the work of remixers doesn't deserve a Grammy
Anybody see my boy Pharrell on drums? I was listening to Vandermeers show today, and he was trying to figure out who the hell he was.
yes..it was...why am i blanking on it??? it wasn't a song where either really got to show their talents...but still..those are my 2 favorite performers of all time.
You have no idea about what you're talking about. OutKast's first album, which was very much more urban, was mostly original music.
Okay, sorry. And on that point, I generally agree with you. The Grammy's are a popularity contest. At least most critical film watchers usually agree with the Oscars. The Grammy's are a joke, totally agree.
The Grammys have become just like all the other awards, it seems like the Grammys once stood for critical success, not financial. Thats what made winning a Grammy so special, because it was a recongition of musical achievement not a Hey, your song was played 5 billion times over and over..here is an award.
Actually, it was their record that won the Grammy. If you still have a problem with their record, then maybe you have a problem with many critics who placed Speakerboxx/Love Below in their top ten. Don't hate all because hip hop/rap finally gets some love from the Grammys. BTW, Eminem should have won two years ago.
Are you freakin' kidding me?!? Did that no talent loser actually "perform" on the same stage as Sting while he was singing a Police song???? F***ING BLASPHEMY! Is nothing sacred?!? I missed that part. I'm glad I did... RIP The Police
Am I the only one who's already tired of "hey ya"? Guess I never really understood the buzz behind the new Outakst album. I thought the Andre disc was an EMBARASSMENT, and the stupid "skits" between tracks just make it worse. I actually cringe listening to it with the exception of maybe three songs. Not one song on the album even compares to "I'll Call Before I Come." As for Big Boi's album...I liked it. Pretty much just straight rap for the most part. However, I liked it ten times more on the far superior Stankonia album, which I thought was more innovative, more intense, and more altogether entertaining than Sbx/TLB. Just seems like the new album has A LOT of filler with a few good (sometimes great) songs mixed in. A best album of the year winner, this does not make.
You guys are the biggest whiners I've ever seen. Did you not see all of the little token awards that they gave guys who really made no impact on the general music listening world this past year like Warren Zevon and Sting? If anything, you shouldn't be complaining about the people who won simply because they aren't your favorite artist, but rather that because someone died and had a stroke they got a bunch of sympathy votes. I'm not criticizing the work of Luther & Warren, but you have to be kidding me if you think these guys would have been given that much airtime and the awards they won if they didn't die/come close to dying...
