The grammys stink

Kind of like when I lecture on Andy Warhol and talk about how he "got out" of art in '65 to, among other things, act as manager for the Velvet Underground - blank stares.

You know, NY scene, got boo'd off stage when they went to California, Lou Reed...(blank stares).

Often considered similar to The Doors (slight recognition).

Sigh.

Anyway, I must admit I watched a bit of the Grammys - first time since the mid-90's - because I wanted to see what music is like these days.

Doesn't one person/band win almost everything every year? It seems that I always read that it ends up like that.

I thought the Clash tribute sucked. The Bee Gees one actually wasn't bad and I thought it was really sad when they showed "the measure of a man" (the surviving family).

First time I ever heard Eminem live and first time I had ever heard that song beyond the 30 secs for the movie trailer - not bad, but - The Roots served no purpose. I did not understand that. Their music is different from what little I know of Eminem and for them to serve as a backup role was wrong - and, again, pointless.

Oh yeah...Artetha. I love you. You were/are amazing. But you have gotten scary. Take care of yourself or you won't live much longer. And kill whoever dressed you and told you your hair "looked good."

 

Does Avril know who John Lennon is?

Cause Britney does not. I posted the article I found on Fox News awhile ago.

 

The first slip up was Dustin Hoffman when he said "Bruce Springstein...Springsteen is here", but at least he corrected himself.

No, she appeared on SNL as Will Ferrell's GF while he was being interviewed by Weekend Update.

She's supposedly linked to Colin Ferrell or Fred Durst.

 

unless it's a coincidence. I think he meant Colin Ferrel.

 

Ah, got it. I knew about the Colin Farrell thing...lucky bastid. Cool, good-looking, funny...and Britney.

I already do. I didn't want to feel the need to start a cult though.

 

SNL guys, I thought you were all on the level.

 

It's a popularity contest to me. At least the Oscars will nominate movies that nobody watched. It seems like the people who win Grammy's also just happened to sell millions of dollars worth of cd's.

 

How do you think Colin Ferrell's ex-wife feels?

I didn't watch SNL, but there appears to have been a skit that could blow that whole "Black people can make fun of white people, but we can't make fun of them" bull**** out of the water.

 

That myth is blown away everytime I turn on Comedy Central.

Not sure which sketch you are talking about. I know that Dean Edwards and Tracy Morgan did a sketch that might be the one you speak of. Edwards was Don Cheadle doing something for Black History Month on the History Channel. Morgan was supposed to be a historical black figure, the first african american to yell at the screen during a movie. I guess the writers were white.

 

I'd say that Avril Lavigne looks like a young Jennifer Aniston, but I can never find a pic of her smiling...

 

That's it. That's the same kind of humor as saying white people can't dance. Simple harmless fun.

 

I like Avril....my sister, brother-in-law and nieces met her and say she is super-nice...she was great with the kids (my nieces are 7 and 4 years old)...i think she's pretty talented. catchy songs.

but she's no jennifer aniston, a-train!!!

 

I like Avril's voice and sometimes I think she is cute. Other times, I see her teeth and those dark eyes and I think I'm starring at a hamster or something.
