And I don't really consider myself to be Republican, but maybe one day I will.

If Obama wins this election democrats will have won the popular vote 5 out of the 6 last elections. Sounds like republicans are doing wrong to me to. And if you listen closely anyone with a brain can tell why, people like basso scare ***** out of normal moderate people. You can't even have normal discourse with people on a discussion forum. You spend how many hours a week of your life on here doing what you do? When people think your an absolute joke.

Instead of discussing an opinion with meaningful thoughts you posts articles of crap, that are mostly lies and exaggerations. That tactic scares normal people with such a twisted and extreme political stance. You can win a state representative race in rural Oklahoma, but it's staring to look impossible to win a general election.

I hope you continue to enjoy your time on here Basso and giving a shout to bigtexxx for your valentine thread and other gems over years. Trader Jorge your missed as well.

I don't know why you lefties always got confused with Republican and conservative. I have always been a conservative first regardless of party affiliation.

No, If the Republican party becomes more aligned with my principles, I will become a Republican. but as it stands they are just as statist/big government as liberals. I think that could be changing.

Well then you should find a president to support that starts multiple wars, lowers taxes at the same time, deregulates the banks to the point where it turns the economy into a tax payer bailout/super debt/unemployment sky rocketing mess.

And then complain that the new president I guess didn't fix it fast enough or something.

When you said "progressive", isn't that code word for European socialism?
Look how well it's working out for Europe. We are Greece in a few years from now.

We are no where close to providing what people had in Greece. You could attend college for free, free healthcare, full pay retirement as early as 50 for some careers etc........

I usually vote Republican, although I never vote straight ticket, but I do agree the party is dying unless there is major reform. The social conservative needs to disappear. People are becoming more educated and know we can't value the Bible more than the constitution.

Why is it so hard for you to wrap your head around the idea: you can't spend the money that you don't have?

My wife and I don't have any kids and our income is decent by any standards. I have no debts , my homes are completely paid off, I don't even have a balance on my credit cards, yet I'm watching every dime that I spent.

I'm still nervous about my own economic situation because I know a lot of time, all it takes is one catastrophe and you can be wiped out.

How can you have so much confidence when we are 16 trillions in the hole?
