Do you believe you had ancestry past your grandmother? Why? You never met them. You've only got other people that told you she existed. If I found archeologists that could find no evidence that she ever existed, would that start questioning your beliefs? What is proof? What is fact? I love the fact that historians and scientists base everything on findings through time, and yet also theorize that time can be manipulated. We just don't know how to, yet. Tell you what: When scientists can start dividing 10 by 3 with certainty (they can't, btw), I'll start listening.
Though no one really answered my previous question, which is probably unanswerable, I will post another quirk I have with the bible. I am annoyed by Christians who take the bible literally, such as believing the world was created in 6 days. The bible is obviously a giant collection of exagerrations, myths, and legend based very loosely on history and should be read as a guide to life, not as a textbook on history. All you have to do is read a couple chapters into Genesis and see that it cannot be a factual account of history. God created Adam and Eve. They had two kids: Cain and Abel. Hmm...how did Cain and Abel have kids?
I just re-read the part 3 times and no mention is made of Adam and Eve having more children. It just jumps into Cain having children with his wife. And EVEN IF Adam and Eve had more children, are you saying Cain and Abel slept with their sisters? Enlightened != Hotballa
its early, noone else saw this post except me and youi probably. I'll let you go back and change youir post, before it winds up a classic quote
I agree. Incredibly stupid post. Similar in your mind to saying "I just saw Star Wars and, like, there was nooo reference to Darth Vader being his father." I sell dunce caps on ebay, btw, but I'll give you and DaDakota one for free.
What?? Don't be so hard on the people who take things on faith, they are not all ignorant. Some people actually take those books for what they are, a collection of stories and myths that are meant to help teach rules and guidelines about morality. All of which were borrowed or rewritten from previous civilizations similar stories and myths. Ignorant is blindly following some dusty old tome written 500-2000 years ago. These writings are not more valid than the ones from Nostradames, they just caught on and people discovered they could get money out of people by preaching about them, and thus a business,...ehem...I mean a religion was born. The truth will enlighten you !! DD
Ah come on Fatty, don't you like pragmatism? Or is it more fun to bury your head in the sand and let someone else do the thinking for you?
LOL - The funny thing is that the earth is over 4.6 billion years old, and the bible has NO Way of reconcilling that fact. The bible is a nice morality guidelines, but hardly truthful. None of the others are either....the Quran is bullcrap, the Torah...all of them....pure fantasy. Hell, you might as well believe JR Tolkein's work on the same level as the writers of the religious books. DD
Well, personally I'm not a religious person but I don't rule out the possibility that God exists. If God were to convey stories to the authors of the bible, undoubtedly he had to dumb things down a bit and discuss creation in the context that a ship herder could understand. I mean, God can't exactly talk about stuff like neutrinos and DNA right?
