that seems at odds with his constant reference to the subject that indicates otherwise. "Bush believes he was called by God to lead the nation at this time, says Commerce Secretary Don Evans, a close friend who talks with Bush every day" http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2003-04-01-bush-cover_x.htm Bush said to James Robinson: 'I feel like God wants me to run for President. I can't explain it, but I sense my country is going to need me. Something is going to happen... I know it won't be easy on me or my family, but God wants me to do it.' I thought this sounded familiar, turns out its old news: http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A37944-2003Jun26?language=printer I guess the new part is the confirmation by the recipients of this info.
Not all Christians base every decision in their lives on Christian dogma. I thought you, as a liberal, were supposed to be more opened minded than the rest of us plebians.
You haven't posted anything that has said that he BASED his decisions on that, which is what I said. He considers religion in making decisions but once again does not BASE his decisions solely on religion.
You are quite correct. The agenda of the BBC and the Palestinians is to sap our manly fluids. This is also the agenda of the American Library Association, Tulsa City Council, and the Blue Birds. Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid.
Fair point, he doesn't even bother with the "BASING", it seems from his comments that he's just following orders. I don't feel like searching all of his myriad references to his conversations to determine if there is sufficient "BASING" in them, suffice to say, the general tone of his past public statements and the fact that he wears his cellphone to god on his belt is by no means incongrous with his statements to the Palestininans (who, by the way, he has publlicly lauded with personal accolades )
Really interesting that some of the more religious posters here didn't jump in to defend the president's right to say what he said, because IMO he's at least not a hypocrite. We ALL know for a FACT that he claims to be religious and that he yields to a "higher power" (according to Bob Woodrow's book which references his personal interview with President Bush when he asked him whether or not he asks for advice from his own father on foreign policy issues, and Bush Jr. pointedly told him, 'I yield to a higher power', or something to that effect). To me, and based entirely on Bush's rhetoric in the past as well as his much publicized 'born again' status, there is very little incentive for me not to believe what Abbas and other leaders are saying. BTW, Abbas is not hell-bent on the destruction of Israel, he was the Palestinian leader, afterall, that Bush personally said "this is a man I can deal with". I love how ignorant some people are, "You believe the Palestinians?" From what I just read, Abbas said that Bush said he would work hard for a Palestinian state because he felt it was an obligation from God that he does so. Abbas is not making fun of Bush, and if anything I see this as a positive and kudos to Bush for making such a commitment to such an important cause.
"Oh the First World War, boys It closed out its fate The reason for fighting I never got straight But I learned to accept it Accept it with pride For you don't count the dead When God's on your side. ... In a many dark hour I've been thinkin' about this That Jesus Christ Was betrayed by a kiss But I can't think for you You'll have to decide Whether Judas Iscariot Had God on his side. So now as I'm leavin' I'm weary as Hell The confusion I'm feelin' Ain't no tongue can tell The words fill my head And fall to the floor If God's on our side He'll stop the next war." -Bobby D.
I have to agree here. Unless this was caught on tape, I'll have my doubts about the truthfulness of this because of its sources.
i wonder if bush's mission from god to create a palestinian state makes muslims look more favorably on bush.
Yeah you should TOTALLY believe Palestinians... they aren't corrupt at all. Signed, The United Nations
What are you talking about? Just 'cause Kofi runs the UN like Aaron Spelling runs a casting call for 90210 is no reason to believe they are corrupt.
absolutely, the public record is strewn with Bush's proud proclamations regarding his various fireside chats with the man upstairs - and the response is "YOU CAN'T BELIEVE THEM CUZ THEY"RE TEH PALESTINERS AND TEH SUXXORZ!!11!!!!" Get with the program guys, the RNC playbook calls for "elitists out of touch with mainstream america" on two.
