AUTHOR APPEARANCE - Basketball legend, Clyde Drexler

The Woodlands –Basketball legend, Clyde Drexler, will be the featured author at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore, 1201 Lake Woodlands Drive in The Woodlands, Saturday, December 18, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. Clyde will be autographing his book, Clyde the Glide.

Drexler, one of the greatest guards in basketball history opens up on a variety of subjects, including his days growing up in Houston, his development on the court as a gifted yet unrefined high school player, his rise to college fame as a member of the University of Houston’s “Phi Slama Jama” fraternity, his glorious 15-year NBA career, and his time spent coaching with the University of Houston and the Denver Nuggets. Drexler introduces us to his tight-knit family, who aided Clyde in becoming an outstanding young man, and his profitable family business, Drexler’s World-Famous Barbecue.

Clyde Drexler tackled this book with the same kind of attention to detail that fans are accustomed to seeing from The Glide on the basketball court. Since retiring form the NBA, Drexler has spent two years as the head coach of his alma mater, The University of Houston, and the better part of two seasons as a special assistant to the general manager and assistant coach for the Denver Nuggets. Mostly, he has enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, traveling, working at the family restaurant, and enjoying life to the fullest.

With all the names that have been thrown around on these boards for a replacement if / when JVG gets fired, I've yet to see Glyde's name pop up. He might be a good coach for this team, especially making an offensive system that fits an athletic superstar SG.

It was UH for crying out loud. Not even Phil Jackson could make them a winner.
