This Cuttino thing is driving me crazy! I heard from a good source that Cat's gone. I really hope not. ------------------ Wait, there is another...
uh oh! Popeye spies vs Doc Rock spies. all I know is that the waiting game is the torture to me. Right now I view him as gone. If he is back, then that is a bonus. ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
THAT SUCKS! IS YOUR SOURCE PLAYER, AGENT, COACH. HOW CONVINCING DID HE SOUND. AND HAS HE BEEN HANGING OUT WITH KAREEM OR SAM SMACK LATELY? ------------------
Hope you're wrong, but if Doc's right Cuttino is he's one of the most selfish brats I've ever seen. Let's put it this way. If Cuttino were to leave, and then play Scottie Pippen in a game of one on one, I wouldn't know who to cheer for. I hope Mobley has a little something called integrity, but it's beginning to appear like he doesn't. This is truly pathetic behavior on Cuttino's part. ------------------ Member of the pro-Collier/Langhi movement. IN RUDY WE TRUST!!
Future of the Rocks (worst scenario)- Cat screws the rocks and becomes a raptor. Langhi becomes the replacement for the aging Bull and knows his role as the 3 pt shooter. We end up not making the playoffs by a long shot, getting the first pick, and..trading down for troy murphy. Future of the rocks(best scenerio) - Cat resigns with Houston. Langhi and Collier do great and fit in perfectly. Rockets make the playoffs, end up with picks #12 and #14 and pick Terrence Morris and Zach Randolf or trade up ( use Walt, hahaha) and get a center like Baby Karim or Baby SHaq or Woods. ------------------ "There are two rules for success... 1) Never tell everything you know."
He's a free agent. He's free to do whatever the hell he wants and make whatever decision he feels is best for his future. We Rocket fans have just become spoiled...
Maybe we are a little spoiled, but he owes us IMO. Big time. He stated before that he knew the Rockets were the only team that would have taken him in the draft- if not for us he would have gone undrafted. We gave him the starting PG spot just a few games into his rookie campaign as a 2nd round draft pick and let him lead the team. For his 2nd year he wanted to be moved to SG. We did that. He wanted plays run for him and an offense designed for him. Not only did we do that, but we continually gave him the shots and minutes, even when he struggled. We went out and got a young team around him, and one for him to grow with. We passed up an immensely talented shooting guard in Courtney Alexander in the draft to show him how much we cared for him and wanted him back. Then, we offered the maximum we could to him with big time promises for more down the road. And after all that, he leaves? Maybe it's just me, but IMO it would be a terribly selfish decision for him to leave. ------------------ Member of the pro-Collier/Langhi movement. IN RUDY WE TRUST!!
Seattle drafted Rashard Lewis in the 2nd round when every team in the league passed him up. They even gave him a guaranteed contract for 2 years when they could have just given him the minimum with no guarantees. They give him the starting job in his 1st week of NBA basketball. They bring him along slowly, nuturing his fragile confidence into solid granite. By the end of his 2nd campaign, they have transformed him into a legimate basketball threat. But then again, I bet you are still hoping Lewis signs with the hometown Rockets anyways. Does that make him a traitor to the Soncis, who lies at the point of no return? NO! Cuttino does not owe the Rockets ANYTHING. So what if the Rockets were the only team that took a chance on him? He would have been a free agent rookie and he might have even been able to latch on to his hometown, 76ers. If you have talent, there will always be a place in this league for you. He's a free agent and he has complete autonomy to choose his destinations. And don't act like the Rockets did him favors by starting him at point guard during his rookie year. It works both ways. The Rockets were desperate for some stability at the PG position. So I tend to believe that Cuttino was the one doing the Rockets a favor. Not the other way around. If he leaves the Rockets, I will be disappointed. But I won't hold any personal grudges against him. ------------------
You are being silly Cat. Mobley doesn't owe the Rockets anything. Rockets used him as much as he used them. It's a business, get used to it. ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
I agree with everything The Cat said. I will be very disappointed in Mobley if he does not re-sign. ------------------ My dream job is to be a Houston Rockets towel-boy.
At least if Cuttino goes Popeye can come back as himself without feeling bad cause his source would have been wrong anyways. Always look on the bright side of life...dah dah, dah dah, da da dah ------------------ When I die I want to go peacefully like my grandfather. Not screaming like the passengers in the back seat!
What the hell does he owe us? He's a basketball player who has just completed his contract. He played his heart out for us. How would he know if anyone else would have drafted him? Anyways, he still would have his talent and desire. He'd be able to latch on somewhere, I'm sure. What other choices did we have? You want us to start Matt Maloney? Steve Francis was our point guard. We moved him to shooting guard to make the most of his abilities to help us, not him. Other than Francis, who else could create on this team? Again, not for him, for us. What?!?!?! You're making it sound like we built a team around the guy. He was simply a peice to the puzzle. This is the argument I am sick and tired of hearing. "Ooohhh, Courtney Alexander this...Courtney Alexander that...". Even if Cat leaves, we still have a very good shooting guard in Shandon Anderson. We needed frontcourt help (though I hate Collier...). What? Maybe he feels like he should go for the money now. Talk about hypocrisy. Do you not cheer for Shandon Anderson and Steve Francis? These guys also left for better situations. Cuttino is doing what any smart person would do, and that is weigh his options and make the best career decision. Next time you are offered a new high-paying job, are you going to turn it down to stick with the company who first gave you a chance? ------------------ "I wanna eat his children."
So there is still a legit chance at Rashard THIS summer? That's enough to get me excited. Cuttino who? Rashard would make us all forget about Cuttino and more. By the way Clutch, I may need you to change my username in a few days for me. ------------------ Member of the pro-Collier/Langhi movement. IN RUDY WE TRUST!!
Man, I thought I was going to be set for a long time with my name too. Damn! Has anyone taken the usernames of "Collier" or "Langhi" yet????? ------------------
Probably not, but if you don't like changing usernames, you may want to reconsider using either of those 2. ------------------ Just shut up and post
Oh I don't know D0D. If he were to just throw a hyphen in there he could be cut-tino. Yeah, thats the ticket ------------------ "Get up, stand up. Stand up for your right"-Bob Marley
Da Man-Wasn't Rashard's role as a starter his rookie year like the first 4 minutes a game? Anyway, I'll be upset if Mobley leaves not because he "owes" us, but because he's crossed us, and said things such as "God doesn't like greedy people" and how he hoped to build a home across the street from Francis and play by Francis forever. If he leaves legitimately because he wants to go closer to home, I'd have no problem granting him a sign and trade to Philly. I just think that this is strictly money, and that if the Rockets had the ability to offer the amount the Raptors could, this wouldn't even be a question. Everythings pointing towards "yes" to Croshere and/or Lewis, which is a positive sign. By losing Mobley, we'll easily have enough to afford "a maxed out player" next year, or sign both Croshere and Rashard to "wink wink" deals, and pay them next year. If we lose Mobley, I'd like to see us make a move to get Lindsey Hunter and Jerome Williams from Detroit. Hunter would play Mobley's role just fine. ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better. Collier is Seven Foot and Left Handed. How can you go wrong? Trade or bench Kenny Thomas. If the Rockets had been sharper with their drafting, they would have taken Cat in the first round and Drew in the second round. The BBS would be quite dull because there wouldn't be this wailing and moaning about Drew staying or going. Mango ps We have already beaten the Drew instead of Rashard thing to death, so leave it out of this thread. ------------------ 1. Put new topics in the proper forum 2. Now I don't know how to do anything special for the quotes or anything like that but I believe it was Cat that was saying that we did Mobely a favor because nobody else was going to pick him. That is actually not a true statement. Denver had the next pick and there general managersaid that they were ready to snatch up Mobely with the next pick and they weren't the only team. With Mobely off the board they chose his teammate Tyson Wheeler if I am not mistaken. Next thing, everybody I think is being a little to hard on Cuttino. Sure if he decides to leave I will be dissapointed but it is not like he ever said he was going to stay. He did not pull a Pippen. Sure the Rockets did not choose a two guard and there is a rumor that Cuttino called and told the rockets not to draft a 2-guard but how many can say they know it is true or false, only a select few on this site.(By the way-a rumor started by Bill The Rocket guys Site). Also who really thinks the Rockets would have actually selected a 2-guard assuming Mobely said anything. they brought in one top 2-guard in Quentin Richardson but did not bring in Courtney Alexander. Everybody as far as beat writers, CD, and Rudy said they were going for size this year. Even before the whole Cuttino fiasco started. Rocket fans spoiled? Could it be? ABSOLUTELY! It is not a bad thing just a little frustrating to listen to sometimes. Basically Mobely mentions the possibility of heading to Toronto and suddenly he is public enemy #1. He is a back stabber, people hope he tears his ACL in game number 1, He's a jerk, he's a creep, he's selfish, he creates a bad team chemistry, he is a ball hog that will make it so that the Rockets would never have a chance to win. I'll tell you what he really is. He is a player that has the ability to play multiple positions, he is an accurate free throw shooter, he is a finisher, and he is somebody I want to have the ball in crunch time. Next thing:I remain confindent that something will overcome Mobely and he will decide to return to Houston. It is a gut feeling. With his personality and all that he has going for him it is impossible to me to imaging him playing in another jersey. Maybe that is just where my gut feeling comes from. Hey I am also optomistic that we will get either Croshere or Rashard. I think Croshere will be here and I have the fantasy of getting both. I am not sure how but I am predicting we get both, too bad I don't have sources. Hey I am also optomistic that I can restart the famous optomist Vs. Pessimist war. On a side note I think Bullard is here next year and Langhi is the suprise of this draft. He will shock most of you'll. ------------------
Da Man & thacabbage, I couldn't agree with you more. You cut straight to the chase. Cat, You keep saying we did this & we did that as if you were a part of the organization. Are you? If not then how could you know for sure what the Rockets motivation was for the moves that they made with Mobley? How do you know for sure that the Rockets would've taken Courtney? They obviously have a plan for the future that they are actively working on. I can't see any way that they would have taken a guard in the draft, except to be used as trade bait for big men or draft picks, even if they already knew that he was going to leave. Mobley is a bench player on this team & always will be, unless Francis or Shandon leave or get hurt. Just take a deep breath, relax, & let it out slowly. The Rockets future with or without Mobley is definitely on the rise. Besides, now we get to see Stevie light him up, like he said he would if he left. ------------------
