October 31 is still the deadline. And unless there is unanimous agreement among the heads of the 28 countries of the EU counsel - including current British PM Boris Johnson - then no extension can be approved.
What I do not understand is that appearances are so important to Republicans.......... but the world is laughing at Trump and Johnson for the clowns that they are. That should be humiliating for Republicans and conservatives, but it obviously is not.
An excellent summary of our current situation regarding the UK Parliament and Brexit, by Daniel Hannan: There will still be an election in the UK, and Brexit will still happen On Wednesday afternoon, MPs passed a motion obliging the government to seek as many extensions as the EU wanted. Boris Johnson, the prime minister, responded by calling for a general election. Whereupon Labour, which has been demanding an immediate poll for two years, suddenly went cold on the idea. Under legislation passed in 2010, two thirds of MPs must agree to an early dissolution of Parliament. On Wednesday evening, Labour and the other opposition parties, looking at the opinion polls, voted against such a dissolution. Yes, you read that correctly. The parties that have spent the past month accusing Johnson of mounting some sort of coup just voted to prevent him from subjecting his tenure to a national vote. The House of Commons has thus put itself in a ridiculous position. Pro-EU MPs have voted to keep in office a government they have calculatedly undermined. They have done so for the sole purpose of overturning a referendum result which they had previously promised to uphold. That, my friends, is our political crisis in a nutshell. It is a political crisis in the UK and as the author above very deftly explains, it is the Remainers who have caused it. It is time for the riff-raff to be cleared out, and the leftists do not want an election, in significant part because they know that it is many of the people on their side who are the ones who are going to be sent packing.
I do not know the workings of UK election politics to be very sure what these former Conservative MP's prospects are in the next election, but it appears that at least 12 of them are considering plans to run as independents in the next election. If they want to remain in Parliament, they will have to either do that or find another party to join, such as Labour or the Liberal Democrats. Unless they are VERY personally popular with their constituents, it seems like it will probably be difficult for more than one or maybe two to hold their seats - as independents that is. And maybe not even that many. At least 12 sacked rebel Tory MPs are preparing to run as independents in the next General Election At least 12 of the former Conservative MPs are contemplating a run in their seats against any official new party candidate, The Sun has been told. They are Philip Hammond, David Gauke, Dominic Grieve, Ed Vaizey, Sam Gyimah, Alistair Burt, Steve Brine, Caroline Nokes, Antoinette Sandbach, Rory Stewart, Margot James and Stephen Hammond. Even if the rebels fail to win them, the move could split the Tory vote and hand the seats to opposition parties, diminishing the PM’s chances of a majority.
Bojo and bozo America is Great to see fat old ugly white men make it at the helm again. Just like the grand old days our darkest hour with Churchill.
https://www.theguardian.com/politic...d-be-jailed-for-refusing-to-seek-brexit-delay The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has publicly said that he will disobey the law of his own country and end up in prison. LOLOLOL How embarassing! The lowest point in their modern history in times of peace. The "respected" United Kingdom where their unelected leader closes down their parliament, breaks the law and becomes a common criminal LMAO The joke writes itself at this point. Oh how the mighty have fallen. At the beginning of Brexit the EU was scared of British diplomacy and now ..? After only 3 years, they will imprison their own leader for disobeying parliament. If it was a movie script it would be too far fetched but reality turned up even more hillarious than fantasy.
