The "mainstream" parties that control and run the EU Parliament are projected to lose 73 seats in the upcoming EU elections, which is expected to require at least one more party be added to the ruling coalition in order to command a majority. Center right and center left to lose 73 seats: European Parliament projection The European Parliament's two largest blocs are on track to shrink by a combined 73 seats, according to the European Parliament's latest official poll. The poll, published Friday, shows the center-right European People's Party (EPP) on course to win 188 out of 705 seats in the European election in May while the center-left Socialists and Democrats group (S&D) is on course to win 142 seats. Yet the survey underscored that the Parliament's two biggest groups will no longer hold a combined majority after the election. The two blocs would require the support of at least one more party to form a majority coalition in the next Parliament. Euroskeptics, meanwhile, are on the rise but remain divided. The new Parliament is set to include approximately 150 MEPs from Euroskeptic groups. The largest such bloc — Europe of Nations and Freedom (ENF) group, which includes Italy's League and France's National Rally — is projected to win 61 seats. Currently there are 751 seats in the EU Parliament, which will be reduced to 705 when the UK leaves. If the UK were to stay and participate in the upcoming May EU Parliamentary elections, that would make the imbalance even more tenuous, as the UK would in that case be expected to return a majority contingent of highly vocal Eurosceptic MEP's. This prospect is clearly making a number of EU leaders queasy and has apparently gone a long way towards motivating the current perspective by many of them that it would be best to see the UK off as soon as possible, and certainly before the upcoming EU Parliamentary elections in May.
I have not researched the British Exit from the EU matter as I have other situations in the news, but I frequently listen to BBC radio, and what I hear is that every plan for withdrawal has been voted down, and the No Plan option has been voted down. Recent polls would indicate that national sentiment has shifted enough that now a slight majority of the British citizenry oppose exiting the EU. When I see every option, every path out refused, all that remains is not exiting. As I look at the state of Brexit, what I see is Britain remaining in the EU. I wonder why I'm not hearing anyone on that side of the pond discussing that.
No redos. The vote was cast. Why the hell would you trust BBC to inform you when they are state propaganda... The EU is a nightmare and Britain will be fine.
That is the position of the globalist establishment elite left, including Europhiles, the mass media, and those who outsource their thinking functions to these people. Contrary to the pro-globalist, pro-establishment, pro-elitist, pro-Remain propaganda that has relentlessly been spewed out by the BBC and most of the rest of the mass media, the people of the UK want to Leave the EU and are ok doing so with no deal. The stories that you have been listening to from the BBC insisting that the people actually want to stay are 'Fake news,' just like the Trump/Russia conspiracy scam that our version of these people have been peddling over here for the last 2+ years. And that is actually why you hear virtually no discussion in the UK Parliament and even in the Remain mass media about revoking Article 50 (Brexit). It is because that idea is so far removed from having popular support in the UK that they are afraid to even bring it up.
https://whatukthinks.org/eu/ Prolly just libtard propaganda with made up data, undoubtedly. The vote passed 52%-48%. At it's high water mark it was barely over 50% in favor. To say "all of the UK is cheering on Brexit" is like saying all of the USA was squarely behind President Obama (or President Trump). If you really believe it to be the case you are living in a Nazi UKIP echo chamber. I'm sure UKIP mouthbreathers are all squarely united behind Brexit.
Despite the comforting tone of your reassurances, dachuda, what is not addressed is that every path for the UK to exit the EU has been voted down in Parliament. So my supposition remains, if absolutely no path is chosen, there is no exit. I'm sure they will eventually commit to a course. I'm just spelling out the current optics.
So are the choices in fact down to Brexit with no deal, or overthrow the current UK government? It looks like they very well might be.
She actually could dismiss Parliament for the next two weeks. She has the power and authority to do that. What could reasonably be better at this point?
No. Just a return of British sovereignty over their own nation's affairs. But that is in itself something to cheer about.
You actually approve of a hereditary based monarch dismissing democratically elected representatives? You really do crave a strong man dictator don’t you?
Brexit is like that smoking hot neighbor girl that you spent half your teens trying to bed.... only to see the Tori Amos CD in her car and realize she is a lesbian. What an enormous let down.
That is not what would happen. As I am sure you are aware, Queen Elizabeth II is in her 90's and has no interest in being a tyrant dictator of the UK. If she had any interest in anything like that, we surely would have seen evidence of it long before now. No, if she dismissed Parliament for two weeks on Monday, the people of the UK would stand almost as one and give her the longest standing ovation you have ever seen. It would be a great service to the nation, to the people of the UK and also to Parliament as well, which has pretty clearly exhausted its capabilities on this matter. Again, I would have preferred to see the UK and the EU reach a mutually acceptable deal. But clearly that has not happened and with exactly seven days remaining for the Parliament to FINISH passing a mutually agreeable deal - not to mention first negotiating one - it pretty clearly appears that this is not going to happen. The acceptable alternatives are revoking Article 50, which was decisively voted down on Wednesday and a second referendum, which is not even being openly embraced by the Labour party, and which has also been voted down twice by large margins. So while things could miraculously change at the last minute, we need to remember that the UK will leave the EU on April 12, 2019, unless Parliament votes for one of the options noted above, all of which have already been voted down decisively. So if the Queen were to decide that is enough is enough and that the UK is going to honor the results of the referendum and leave on schedule on Wednesday, April 12, 2019 and dismiss Parliament until after that date in order to allow that to happen, then good for her. I hope she does that and I am certain that tens of millions of British citizens will heartily agree with that decision.
The idea that you believe the people of Britain would give the Queen a standing ovation if she dismissed Parliament is interesting to put it kindly. Brexit was a very close vote at the time (51% for) and almost all current polling data shows that the majority of Britain now does not support Brexit (54%-56% against).... so I think the idea that all (or even a majority) of Britain would applaud the Queen closing down Parliament is absurd.
Its interesting seeing the parallels between trump and his wall and England and Brexit. trump won the election despite not winning the majority of the popular vote; Brexit won on the narrowest of votes. trump then tries to get his wall passed, and goes through exhaustive, divisive efforts that are creating a painful divide in the country to get his wall passed, despite the clear opposition of the majority of people. Those favoring Brexit are trying to force Brexit implemented despite what appears to be now opposition of the people and would be willing to have it happen regardless of how it disrupts the country.. Both efforts seem to be against the will of the people, very divisive and disruptive. And... the same people that seem most supportive of one are most supportive of the other...
No she can not. Who said that? Since 2011 she has lost the power to abolish parliament on her own. Not to mention that this queen is a remainer herself and also has no interest in being active in politics.
