What’s the problem with the offense?

Nothing, except that like every other offense it isn't perfect.

It’s a work in progress and so can’t be judged yet. It scores more points than the other guys (92 to 89 ) and when the Rockets run it correctly they win, even against top teams. Maybe you meant to ask “ Does the Rocket's offense grate on your nerves like it does mine?”. (I don’t mean that as a slam. There are some teams that have run offenses that bring championships and I’ve wished they did something different just because I can’t stand the particular scheme they run.)

Right now Rockets offense looks to me like an offense in transition with coaches trying to find out how their players work best together. "What offense should the Rockets run given their personell?" might be a better question to ask. As of right now I’m withholding judgment until much later in the season, or until we hit a major losing streak.

PS All this trade talk. I don’t think some fans realize what Mobley, or Francis bring to this team. I know its trite but, “A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush.”

Well said JayZ, excellent post. The guards tend to make things a whole lot more difficult than they should be, and I think that is a direct result of the fact that the basketball IQ in the backcourt is simply bad. By watching them over a lengthy period of time, you can tell the thought process is more "How can I beat my man off the dribble and score?" as opposed to "How can we get the offense flowing together as a whole and get the team clicking consistently?" Some of the blame can fall on Rudy's shoulders, but the guy just is not a teacher. Hubie Brown is someone you could consider a teacher, a coach that schools his younger players on the finer points of the game and how to make the game easier. This is a major part of the reason why I feel this team will never get consistent with this group of guards b/c their reads and thought processes are simply bad. I could easily see them go out and win the next three but lose the three after that and continuously go into a pendulum like that producing very inconsistent performances each night. A good motion offense and big man passing is not going to solve this imo.
