Only comment i have on that is that i guess in the heat of the battle on the court it's hard to come off that way unless your Tim Duncan But i have been in court and im sure you can get pissed real quick as well.
I think a lot of us share the same feeling on FTs. =========================== Brian (Philly): Good Doctor, last night's Rockets-Blazers game was disurbing. 33 Blazer FTs to 11 for the Rockets? Even JVG was complaining. Even YAO was complaining! He said that Ratliff was playing D down low as if it were a WWF match. I don't think it was right for the officials to nearly cost the Rockets a game in retaliation for Steve's comments on sunday. Dr. Jack Ramsay: The officials don't care what Steve said on Sunday...and don't care who wins. There will be games when one team or another appears to be getting breaks...but the way to get to the line is to take it to the hoop...and if a team shoots mostly Jumpers from the edges...they don't get to the line. Yao like Shaq is going to take some punishment...he's got to learn to handle physical play and still perform. He's improving in that regard.
It's starting to affect close games, Rox management has to do something to correct this. If not, we're not going to get out of 1st round at all. When you have 2 pretty good teams at playoff, most likely it's going to be close games and the outcome decided by FTs.
explain to me then why Hakeem NEVER got the calls other superstars got even during his MVP years? I cant remember a time when Dream was anything but a gentleman on the court (atleast during the time I'm talking about).
Van Gundy is right. Do your job, earn the respect, and the calls will follow. If we ran an offense sufficiently consistent and impressive to make referees think our guy must have been fouled when he missed the shot or lost the ball, we would get the calls. That's the way it works. Right now, the well-earned assumption around the league is that when our guy misses the shot or loses the ball, it's because we have no !@#$% idea what we're doing out there. There has been exactly one refereeing issue that required us to speak up, and that is the leniency the refs have shown to anyone guarding Yao Ming as a rule. And that is the only thing Van Gundy has spoken up about. And because he doesn't whine about the little things, he is taken seriously when he does speak up, and he may well change the way the hacks on Yao are called, which is 10 times more important than any other complaint we may have. The man knows what he's doing. Our players should shut up and let him handle this stuff.
