The free throw putback dunk -- why nobody does this anymore?

So this thread was started because DudeWah might get rebound put-back sex soon?

 

This is actually not something really that out of the ordinary by NBA standard. It is no different from any putback dunk by a wing player running from beyond the arc. Lots of players have done that.

It's just about timing, athleticism, and luck (where the ball bounces), and of course poor boxing out.

 

Not arguing the feat itself not being out of the realm of an athletic NBA player.

But opening up a thread asking why todays' players don't do it and sticking a Jordan highlight vid is funny to me. Good way to make a point lol.

What's next, why don't todays' NBA players throw a cross court bullet pass and stick a Magic highlight vid?

And to the original topic, I believe guards and whoever is not in the lane have the duty to hang back and guard against snowbird passes to streaking players on the other team.

Watching the Parsons replay, it appears he times it just about as perfectly as you possibly can. His foot crosses the three point line just as the ball is leaving Asik's fingertips.

In this case, the play was legal. A couple of Jordan's looked like they were probably illegal, but most appeared to be legit.

 

Yep, I agree, the big guys do a great boxing out and get the rebound, and then do a big pass to the wide open player and its an easy basket, so teams prefer not to doing it all the time.

 

If you were going to make this thread you should have at least put up Horry's great dunk on the first post and then Parson's.
