What is your definition of "bust"? Seems loose to me.

Anthony Bennett was a bust. Jalen is a fringe all-star...

Jabari proved himself to be one of our most playoff-ready players (in terms of mentality, not in terms of skills), and he fits our core perfectly. What?

it's time to build a roster around Amen. Unfortunately I think that means trading Sengun and probably Green as well...

I don’t disagree with the Amen statement. I do feel Sengun’s value is being greatly undervalued by our own posters. We have 0 offense when he is out of the game. Even if he’s off like last night he’s still the best option to run the offense through.

I don’t think this is a question of one or the other it’s more like 1a and 1b. Amen feeds off Sengun.

I agree, I’d like them to build around Amen.

Problem is I don’t think sengun fits with Amen. I’d guess you need as much shooting as possible to mitigate his weakness but Sengun isn’t that guy and needs the ball to be effective. At least someone like Adams sets a bruising pick and dominates the glass.

They really needing some shooting with Cam and Reed riding pine all year. Idk, hindsight 20/20 but I’m not as disappointed as some I just wish they could’ve incorporated our better shooters (Jabari too).

I like Amen. I've said he could be a Shawn Marion with playmaking ability. Meaning an all star talent but not the main guy on a championship team. I can now see him possibly upping that to Jimmy Butler level, a scorer that does all the little things but not a true outside shooter.

I do think he's our best prospect. Unfortunately, I think ultimately he's best suited as the 2nd or 3rd best player on a championship team.

If any of the young superstars become available we need to be willing to move anyone not named Amen for them.

The Rockets don't have a franchise player.

To those saying Amen needs to be able to create his own offense to be a superstar--I agree, I just feel very confident he's going to get there and I think he's already closer than people realize.
Most of the reason he only scored 14 per night this season was just usage. He's one of the youngest players on the team and was given a certain role and mostly tried to be a good soldier and perform it to the best of his abilities. He admitted people still call him rook sometimes for God's sake. I think if he'd come into a situation where it was his team and he had the keys to the offense he would have scored a lot more points on lower efficiency numbers and nobody would doubt his potential as a scorer.

There was a moment last night when you could see a switch flip for him and he was like, nobody else is getting it done, it's up to me. And he immediately started creating buckets. He has "it". Just too bad he hurt his calf.

Also think that his looks are more difficult right now due to the lack of a jump shot. Given his improvement this season, I'm almost 100 percent certain he will develop his shot at this point.

You're going to see him make a big leap on offense next season, Mark my words.

Amen and Sengun are definitely the core and need to be built around. Amen specifically is the alpha and everything (including Sengun) will cater to him. Terror Twins and Sometimes You was cute but the age of Amen is officially here.

Amen has proven to be a far better prospect than Sengun with 10x more upside…Sengunatics need to get over it

I remember watching Jimmy Butler develop over the years. Amen has way more tools in his toolbag than Butler did and is about where Butler was in his third year (age 24). I also remember a young Kawhi coming into the league and hearing coach Pop say how he is going to be the next franchise player early on when his numbers weren't all that great and I didn't exactly get it until his 3rd or 4th season. Amen reminds me of a mix of these two guys early on in his career mixed with a little bit amazing traits of Ginobili, Lebron, Rodman, Iggy. There really isn't an exact comparison for Amen.

Amen LOVES the game of basketball and THINKS the game of basketball at a very high level. He knows he needs to work on his shot and he's done a great job going from year 1 to year 2. I am very confident that Amen will work his way into a not just a star player but a superstar level player. The Rockets need to do it right. Can't take short cuts and can't get desperate.

Rockets have one more year of pick "debt" and a roster where we'll need to make some financial decisions. It will be interesting to see how things play out.

Well said, I feel exactly the same way about him. He has basically the basketball skills of a young Jimmy Butler but in a much more fluidly athletic physical package, which is a pretty weird player type that we haven't seen enter the league since at least the 90s. It gives him the ability to guard down to the 1 (so he could potentially play point guard if the jump shot and handles improve) or up to the 4 (so he can be a point-power-forward if that's what the team needs). Really crazy archetype, but a really special one.

What I saw was that Amen is a winner. When the game was getting away from us he threw everything he had on the offensive end to try to will us back into the game. FVV did that for us game 4,5,6 and Amen did it for us last night before he got hurt.

Jalen packed his bags for Cancun before the game even started. He had no intent on trying this game or this series. He needs to be shipped this offseason so our team can let Amen truly blossom.

Honestly, from the Boston game onward there was no debate for me. The only question was when would he make it clear to all the talking heads and podcasters who kept saying Sengun was the best player on the Rockets (and by accolades and counting stats that's fair). And he appears to have done that yesterday.

Amen fits great w/ Tari and Sengun. He fits very well w/ Jabari. The fit w/ JG is ok. I'm unsure of the fit w/ Reed and Cam b/c I haven't seen enough of them playing together.

Based on the above, my pecking order for trade bait from our core would be:

    JG
    Reed
    Cam
    Jabari
    Tari
    Sengun.

And man I really do not want to trade JG. I LOVE the effort and strides he's made on defense and IMO he's only had 2 years of actual NBA coaching. But if this is the off-season you have to make a move, and if the principle is you need to keep and build around Amen, then that's my list.
