Can’t imagine he doesn’t get called up and Contreras and maybe dubin get sent down- for too many pitches even if not ineffectiveness.
Yeah, about time to give dumbass another chance, he seems to be next in line for the bullpen scrub rotation.
They need to do whatever it is they have to do to ensure guys like Montero and Contreras never pitch for this team again. Whitley is probably one answer.
With as much time and effort as has been put into Whitley, I don't know how they don't put him out there. His stuff is A+ but his head and body don't cooperate. Maybe time with real major leaguers will unlock something special or at least, serviceable. Then again, maybe his pigheadedness destroys our current successful chemistry. So who knows, but I'm willing to try it. If it doesn't work... cue Robert Ford. SEE YOU LATER!!!
That clubhouse is as fortified as it comes. If he wants to act like a little piss ant, hed get lined out pretty quick. Consider me on the 'lets try' wagon. We need to get something out of him for hemming up a roster spot for so long.
He's been so disappointing. I expected Whitley to be the next great Stros pitcher. Then I realized he wasn't listening to Strom.
The Astros moved him to the bullpen last year and he made his Major League debut in April -- pitching in one game -- before returning briefly to the big leagues in September for two appearances. Whitley had his best season as a professional last year, posting a 1.89 ERA with 45 strikeouts in 33 1/3 innings with Triple-A Sugar Land. He now appears headed to his first Opening Day roster spot.
Forrest doesn’t need to over think this… he doesn’t need to wax about being a Swiss Army knife. He needs to stop thinking so much, stop talking and go out and pitch an inning when called upon and then go home listen to his wife b**** about her friends and then go to sleep… wake up, drink coffee and then go back to the ballpark without thinking about changing his delivery, losing or gaining weight, starting and then ending a weight lifting regime… adding new pitches or any other stupid ideas his idle mind come up with….. just do your job and actually listen to your coaches.
That's every guy's life. Another thing, he better behave himself or he's gonna hear more than b**** from his wife if his MLB career goes to sht because of his overthinking.
Because the situation is so absurd that it becomes funny. It is very hard to think of another player that is as neurotic as Whitley. If lobotomies were legal - and he had gotten a lobotomy at 20 years old he would already have 4-5 all star games under his belt. Granted, he would have to take an Uber to the ballpark and he would not be allowed to have a fork or knife with dinner, but he would be on his way to a 60 WAR career..... instead we get a guy that dominated the minors at 19 deciding completely on his own to change his mechanics against the advice of everyone from Roger Clemens, Nolan Ryan, Roy Oswalt and the Astros entire coaching staff.
