Historically, political parties have often been hijacked to augment and extend the political influence of one leader. It'd be unusual for an American party, but otherwise not at all surprising. I'm glad Trump is as old as he is, or I would be concerned he'd continue to pull the levers of power in the Republican party and in their propaganda organs to dictate his successors and their policy goals.

My gosh this a campaign speech for the ages... where:
    • trump attacks Pelosi and Romney, questioning their religious beliefs
    • Claims his own kids could have made a fortune if they did what Hunter Biden did (even ivanka shook her head and mouthed no when trump said this)
    • Mocks a purple heart recipient
    • Says he like a congressman's wife better than him because she went on a "women for trump" tour after the Access Hollywood tape
    • Touts gym jordan for being a wrestling champion (um, jordan, locker room attacks, might not be the best guy in the room to bring up)

Watching this, I get the sense that he was more concerned about the blowback toward his family and grandkids than toward himself. While we may call all the other Senate Republican cowards, I can be in some of their shoes and understand how hard it would be to do the right thing when that blowback is not just going to be toward them. Still, vote them all out.

You have no heavenly idea what your maker will be asking, Leynzay. She may ask why you spent a life in the closet, but aligning with such a nasty person could well be on the performance review.

put him on ignore? He seems to post a lot every day.

but anyway, while we’re belittling people w different views, I’d argue the insult TDS at least cuts both ways, as his cult members surely have a version, and those closing their eyes and ears are probably going to get the worst of the after-effects.

Pointless as the sheer number of his posts and the quoting of them makes it a near impossibility to avoid it.

Not sure I want to anyways though. I'd miss out on so much!

    I LOVE Hogan's Heroes!

If that was on, trust me I'd watch it instead of reading your tweets.

Who am I kidding, I rarely read your tweets.

I tend to doubt that... after all, you made a point to @ me on a post. I am hoping it's nothing more than me dominating your thoughts on this discussion group. But if it is more, there's nothing wrong with that, but I should tell you, I'm married.

And who do we have to blame for that? Why...those who went down this path knowing the outcome!

Congress is a gov-t branch tasked to keep POTUS in check. In the big scheme of things they are doing their duty. The minutia of procedural dealings is not something a laymen understands anyway. One has to consider effecting the outcome of primaries and elections due to this duty.
Whether this is an impeachable offense is not for you to determine but for the senate. Bipartisan YAY vote implied that there was enough weight to the charges to try the case. And if the witnesses were called, there is always a chance that politics of the question change enough that he is found guilty.

If you feel impeachment now is broken, call your congressman and ask them to change the laws governing the impeachment procedures.
