I'm sure she is, but I don't think we need to worry about her running in 2012. She has the same problem Arnold has, being foreign born, and Teresa makes Hillary look like the second coming of the JFK in comparison, even if Arnold gets a constitutional amendment passed so he can run. No worries, mate.
I have a similar issue with the first lady and prospective first lady, and my vote may depend on it. When I see Heinz-Kerry and Laura Bush, the first and foremost thought in my mind is.... ....which one would I like to get balls-deep in?
My wife has had her arms full of beer before, and she's met Laura Bush. Who cares? At least Teresa has opinions, and a mind of her own, even if many of us Democrats find her irritating. Big hairy deal. By the way, although my wife thought Laura was very nice, she would rather wade through a swamp full of leeches, and swimming rats, before she would vote for her husband. That photo reminds me... I just bought a 6 pack of Fat Tire, and I'm planning to drink it all at some point this weekend, probably with the better half, who likes her low-carb Amstel Lite. I rarely drink any longer, because of meds, but I think I'm way past overdue. Keep D&D Civil!! And drink a toast to Replicants everywhere!
Do you believe the 1st lady shouldn't drink a beer? If Bush is someone people like because they feel the President is someone they want to have a beer with, then this picture should do wonders for THK's popularity. The picture doesn't make me think more or less of THK. I can relate to her grabbing some cold ones for the road, so I relate a little more to her, but that's about it.
Sorry, too much sarcasm, not enough info in my post. I agree with you that the president needs to have a connection with the "common man". Unfortunately, politicians and the public seems to blur the line between "understanding the common man" and "being the common man". Neither Bush, Kerry, or their wives are "common" by their income brackets, despite all of the brush clearing, bird killing, and beer drinking they might do in their spare time. If you aren't a "common man", then why do you have to pretend to be? Why can't you be an "uncommon man" who is intelligent and has the desire and ability to represent everyone?
Maybe you could decide on the behavior of their children as a reflection of their parenting skills? Or by what type of car they drive? Or the color ties they choose to wear... all of these things tell us so much about their ability to be president...
I don't beleive the 1st lady should be acting like a co-ed who has just discovered beer. But again I am glad she is in the public eye. Everyday she does something. Maybe some like that, but when a potential 1st ladyu doesn't even know the history of the current 1st lady (namely that she has hasd a job). I have a problem with it. Also it's great that she claims being a mother isn't a "real job".
Geez sam that's good. Let me point you somewhere else. You must think "outsourcing" is evil right and therefor done by evil corporations who need to do their business in the US? Well check out the label on Heinze ketchup. Mine say made in Canada. Why don't the Heinze people let teh American Middle class produce Ketchup?
I do? Not necessarily, but hey let's play 4chuckie, you make this too easy sometimes. You really should stick to whether or not First Ladies can accessorize. SNOPED
So she oversees 4% of teh shares and that is not significant? How many people own more than 4% (I assume the President of heinz)? Great Theresa can't make a difference because she only oversees 4%.
Actually, no, she doesn't oversee 4% of the shares. As it states in the article, they are held by the Heinz family trust, which she is a beneficiary of, along with the rest of the beneficiaries, presumably the other Heinz descendants. The corpus of the trust is controlled by a trustee or trustees which oversees 4% of the shares. Accordingly, her share is only a fraction of that 4%, and is not even under her control. Anyway, my hunch is that even a 4% shareholder wouldn't be all that influential with a public company that large. The decisions are made by the Board of Directors and the officers. This is all rudimentary corporate law stuff that is pretty obvious to anybody with any background in it. Finally, you didn't address the last contention. As the Heinz company contends: it's not like making computers or pants or running a call center; you can't manufacture perishable food items in the US and then ship them to India, nor vice versa.
Rather than scream baselessly about SamFisher's post, why don't you do a little research and try to find out if she can make a difference, if she is interested in making a difference, thinks that there is no difference to be made, or believes that her time is better spent making a difference elsewhere? The only thing you have done so far is set your remote control down, walk to your refrigerator, and read the label on a bottle of ketchup.... and based on that you are skewering John Kerry's wife. I don't understand this forum. Hardly anyone actually wants to try and figure anything out. All they want to do is reaffirm their preconceptions.
