well, America, this is the mind of our undecided voters. We can stop asking why they haven't made up their mind yet.

If I were choosing anchors for a relay race I would have to go with Teresa over Laura Bush ~ it seems no matter how far behind Heinz gets she always seems to ketchup.

Major pet peeve of mine. "Understanding of the common person." Who cares if the president's wife "understands the common person?" Besides... that is the most overused BS term in politics. Even worse than "family values" and "I feel your pain". When politicians use that term they mean, "stupid". I would much rather our president understand, "the common international diplomat." That might make me sleep a little better at night. They can read all the demographic and opinion information they need to get a grip on the average truck stop cashier as far as I'm concerned.

You are going to vote for Kerry so Hillary Clinton doesn't run for president? That is the most back-assward plan I have ever heard in my life. Besides being ridiculous, it is based on a completely sexist point of view. What do people think would happen if a woman was elected president? She would revoke the Bill of Rights after a grumpy afternoon episode involving a vending machine that stole her quarter? ...Oh wait, maybe she would drop the bomb on California after her hubby got a blow job from an intern.

Don't worry about it. Stay at home. You live in Texas and the chance of you casting the deciding vote are the same as simultaneously being struck by two separate bolts of lightning while being transported through a rogue wormhole into a parallel universe where Taco Bell serves sashimi for 59 cents to evil robots that have enslaved the human race.

Keep nipping your nyquil, but one day you may discover that occasionally the story is revealed in the details. When it's this close with this much on the line, you may want to read the story, not just the headlines.

George Bush and John Kerry are polar opposites on virtually every issue, including:

    Foreign Policy
    Taxes
    Social Security
    Health Care
    Abortion
    Gay Rights

And you are contemplating whose wife has more tact?

as a major in polisci from georgetown, I think you're assessment of me is dead wrong. you, on the otherhand, are looking too much for a story and are shirking the issues. You were doing well when you were balancing foreign policy versus the economy, but to go from issues to their wives is like assessing nba players by first looking at their stats and then looking at what car they drive.

Heinze-Ketchup looks down at everyone who wasn't fortunate to have a "real" job as the flavor of the month for billionare.

It's funny that the democrats are getting so desperate that they are now bringing up family members of the republican ticket: Like how Kerry brings up Cheney's daughter to make sure everyone knows she is gay and now saying our first lady never had a real job. What next the real issue of how the Bush girls drank before they turned 21?

And I was really impressed that Heinze-Ketchup retracted her statement after she learned the facts, but it clearly shows me what she thinks: "If you aren't good enough to marry a billionare and take his money, then honey you haven't had a real job yet". Plus it also showed what she thinks, rather than when she was given a prepared statement to read from her staff.

I personally hope the republicans go on the attack vs. Mrs. Ketchup. Every time she opens her trap something incredibly useful comes out for the election. However I also don't think we should stoop to the democrats level.

Well . . not so much the Pres's wife
but i prefer the pres has some connection with the people
    he is representing

One of my pet peeves is
    Noone in power [congress/pres/etc]
has ANY OF THEIR CHILDREN in Iraq

when goto the Military they are generally stirred away from
such . .. potentially dangerous areas

To me. . .how can you put someone else's child in harms way
while ensuring it never happens to yours. . . .

It is not unlike Marie Antoinette. . .
    LET THEM EAT CAKE
is how some piliticians view the poor
They don't have food???? You mean they don't have a Cheesecake Factory near them???

I think our Welfare System is an EXACT result of politicians
having NO IDEA about the common man
"Idea such as BOOT STRAP Politics etc."

If the neighborhood is voting to put lilacs everywhere
and all of them want it .. . but i know my son is alerfic . . .
well . .. I'd rather know my son's position . .than the neighbors
It is a bit more important to me
    That is to say
    Knowing the Common everyday america
    is more important
than knowing Tony Blair [not to pick on ole tony
but his was the 1st name i thought of]

Why do people think Laura Bush understands the "common person" so much? She grew up almost like royalty because her father was a rich bigshot in West Texas. Then she married a millionaire who came from generations of millionaires. None of these people on either side can really relate.

Okay, one and all, I am going to confess. I was merely tired of all the intractable foreign and domestic positions vis-a-vis the Presidential election. The gaffe by Mrs. Kerry regarding Mrs. Bush merely provided an opportunity to explore how expansive the fractures in the electorate truly are.

For the first time in my life, I am beginning to fear the American people can't win this election. The fragmentation is so great the winner will find the task of uniting the country impossible, especially when Congress is led by such intransigent ideologues as Nancy Pelosi and Tom DeLay.

From what I've seen about THK, I like her a lot. I think she might be slightly insane, but I still like her. She's well educated, smart, feisty, uses her brain in intellectual pursuits.

From what I've seen of Laura Bush, I like her, but in a more reserved way. She was an educator, went to highschool with my sister, and seems fairly friendly. I don't think that she would be nearly as interesting in a conversation.

    don't get me wrong. . .
I'm not arguing that she is
I'm arguing that knowing the common man is important in a leader

I don't get the Laura Bush love.

She's a Stepford first lady, and he's the Manchurian president. It's a match made in Hollywood.
