wow, kobe in an overwhelming majority? if i had to name the least egotistical mega superstar i can think of in sports, it's him. say what you want about kobe, but the guy lets his game do the talking. he keeps to himself off the court for the most part, and isn't desperate for praise. he's just hungry as hell to win basketball games. shaq...either you see it or you don't. he's the kind of guy who will donate a bunch of money to charity, but not without making sure everybody knows he's doing it, and not without making sure it's going to be recorded on video. they guy is completely transparent to me. just like how it's obvious to me that he disrespected yao his first couple years in the league because he's chinese, and dismissed nash's mvp's because he's white. shaq's just an egotistical jerk, and i hope that comes to light for more people by the end of his career.
SHAQ CAN SAY WHATEVER HE WANTS TO!!!!!! When your a freakin basketball legend and one of the greats of all time you can say what ever you want to about who ever you want. If michael jordan was talking smack about dwayne wade then took a shot at Eddie Jordan what would you have to say about that????? ............Nothing!!
Shaq has won 4 titles. He's consistantly elevated the game of his scoring guards, from Penny to Kobe to D Wade. He helped Riley win his first title in 18 years. Which is not to say that Shaq was solely responsible for the Heat's title - but they wouldn't have come anywhere close to winning it without him. So when you denigrate the guy, realize that he's had a career that puts him probably in the top 10-15 players to ever play the game. When he was in his prime, Shaq was the one player in the league that people had to account the most for in their game plans. If you say that nobody should have an ego, so be it. But if you believe that a player should be able to talk the talk only after walking the walk ... well, Shaq has walked it. He's earned his place in NBA history.
maybe so but he should keep other players names out his mouth. i mean chris quinn? ricky davis? even when he was railing on dampier it was like come on. youre shaq, why do you care about dampier?
Yeah I would. I would say thats a classless thing to do on Jordan's part, and would be a little unusual of a man deemed the greatest person to ever play this game. Shaq may be one of the greatest, but dude's got zero class, and an ego that would engulf most of this country. His statement doesn't even make sense. He did 4 things in one moronic statement: Diminish Dwight Howard, imply the dunk contest is easy to win and that anyone can do it, diss Pat Riley, and once again shamelessly promoting his stupid Big Cactus moniker. Ready to roll again? I hate the Lakers as much as anyone, but I hope that Kobe faces Shaq in the first round so the Lakers can destroy the Suns. Then we'll see what that idiot says.
you are either kidding or very condescending. i suspect the latter. i'm sure you're just a kobe hater, and as a kobe hater, try to open your mind and be impartial for just a split second and answer this: can you honestly fathom that quote, or anything remotely similar, ever coming out of Kobe's mouth?
I agree with this. Just brush it off when it comes to Shaq, he's earned his right to open his mouth. Classless? Maybe. Probably, in fact, but that doesn't change the fact the guy is a basketball legend. Pretty much wherever he went, winning came with it. Whether it was making it to conference finals, or winning the three-peat, or taking a team that's never done anything and winning them a ring, Shaq has won. Now his challenge is to win in Phoenix, the title. If he does that, there's really nothing you can say. On a side note, while Kobe is not as bad as some people make him out to be, I wouldn't quite classify him as "the least egotistical megastar" in the game. He's had his moments. However, he isn't that bad.
At some point however (not now, but near future), it'll be similar to the situation where there's an old broken dude repeating the same "When I was your age..." story while self-aggrandizing. The past is past old man, let it go. you won a championship, they acknowledged it with that gold ring on your finger. here's your applause -clap-. lets move on. there are players with more rings that run their mouths much less, if ever.
no offense, but are you people crazy? winning and success entitles you to trash anybody and everybody that hasnt had the same success? if you're truly great, you don't have to go around advertising it and rubbing it in people's faces. The Big Insecure is classless, and i dont think that's really debateable.
I'm not him. I did a forum search and found a prior topic that was relevant to what we were discussing.
this is not true. in the finals, it seemed like they were worse when shaq was on the court (terrible from the ft line, etc) wade carried them against the pistons and the mavs
It's tongue in cheek, as usual with Shaq. He's been supportive of Dwight being the franchise of Orlando, so it's not outright smack on the face of it. Unless I see more, I don't think it's like one of those rivalries with Zo or D. Rob.
heh i rather the lakers not win cuz I hate kobe d1ckriders even more than than jazz and mavs fans combined. And howard wont ever be close to how dominant shaq was. Amare>howard only thing howard has over him is rebounds
Dwight is a much, much better defender in every possible way......... I am sure Dwight would be averaging 25+ if Nash was his PG.....
