A childhood friend of mine was murdered on the strip a couple of months ago. Since then it seems like there is one more every week.

Horns, sorry for your friend man.

Richmond is just full of thugs now. I don't understand how the clientele changed so rapidly - it used to be a place people could go party & unwind and not have to deal with the lines, dress code, etc. that come w/ clubbing.

Now unless you want to get into a fight, risk getting shot, raped & groped if youre a chick, or stuck in traffic w/ every half-assed low rider this side of Beaumont - you go midtown or to neighborhood bars.

    Or the strip clubs...

Hell, before all the construction started dtown, even it was starting to get overrun by thugs & cruisers...

Had I known Richmond around D and B was so ghetto I would not have stopped.

Exactly, that was my World Cup headquarters, along with Ron's Pub.

I wish they'd move too...there's been a huge void in my life since those bastards tore down the Ale House.

Hey, I grew up out there, I know nothing of this gangs and drugs stuff you speak of. Hell, most of Bellaire before you hit Sharpstown is Asian restaurants and stores.

If someone has a map of Houston........can someone tell me where the Richmond Strip is located?

It seems very scary......is it as scary as Downtown? It's still a pretty busy street I guess...

it's like a couple of streets south and west of the galleria.
the area is not bad in the daytime just at night cuz of all the club people.

Yes, that is what happened. To be honest with you, a number of the murders down there have involved very similar circumstances.

We used to hit Blue Planet and The Outback Pub in the summers when I was home from college. It didnt seem that bad in the mid 90's but its definitely gone WAY downhill since.

They should light the street better, and close it down at night to prevent cruising....

Does anyone remember when Sheppard Plaza was a hot spot in the mid 90's??

When I was in HS, it was all about the Westeimer strip around the Montrose area near Numbers. A chance for dumbass white boys from the 'burbs (like myself) to see how the other half lived without leaving the safety of our locked cars.

Ironically, I now live inside the loop and avoid the 'burbs at all costs. :)

DAMN! Blue Planet! I remember that place back in like 97-98 before downtown started to pick up.

Downtown was amazing the first 6 months when it was all Jones Bar. That place was just bad ass. I still don't think any place compares to that little bar downtown. The music, the people.....ah...the memories.

The sad part is that the Trash from Richmond are now downtown. So nowadays I have to go to MidTown to go out. Its like i'm a nomad....keep moving....follow the women......watch your back for the trash!

I have some good memories from Blue Planet. My buddy and I bought fake IDs when we were 17 so that we could get in. There was never any shortage of chicks there on Friday and Saturday nights.

We also used to go clubbing at Rich's downtown on Thursday nights, straight night. Don't know if anyone still goes there, but back then it was pretty packed.

The sad thing is that the disease is spreading into Midtown.

There seems to be lag time of about 6 months now - b/w the time a club opens and the time the thug/brawlin/cruisin crowd discovers it.

Red Door is circling the drain crowd-wise now. The Social has become Toc now- thugs & ex strippers...

    Houston is disappointing me.

When the only places you go are "trendy", this is what you get.

Hehehehe...somehow I don't think I'll have the same problems at Little Woodrow's, the G-man, Front Porch, Roeder's, Kay's, Rudz, etc....

No, you won't but I think you do have to add a bit of variety to your drinking locales.
