Do you realize that terms like "liberal" and "conservative" change in accordance to the political context of the era? That's why terms like "classical liberal" need to be outlined and demarcated from modern liberalism--because of the very difference in ideology that you're hinting at here. That does not invalidate the "liberal" marker in its modern sense (usually meaning social liberal), however, and you seem unwilling to understand that. And by the way, "Marxism" ceased being a functional standpoint for the American Left after the student movements of the 60's and early 70's died out, around the time when people finally came to terms with the fact that the USSR and the PRC were grossly oppressive states that had missed the idealistic mark. Using terms like "Marxist" to discredit your ideological opponent is nothing short of overzealous McCarthyism, and is probably the reason why no one here has much respect for you. And believe me, you'll know a Marxist when you see one, because Marxists are usually the most willing to identify themselves as such. I think they get off on it in the same way Libertarians do. As a matter of fact, "Marxist" has become such a boogey-man term in American discourse, that even I don't know what Marxism is--and I strongly doubt that someone who goes around screaming it at people he disagrees with knows what it means, either.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not "frustrated" with the forum, I simply see it for what it is - a complete waste of time. Anyone who thinks that there is actual debate going on here is deluded. There is no moderator, there are no points, there is no "winning" even if you are 100% right and drive all of your opponents off. And no one is changing anyone's minds here on anything.
