This is more a result of randomness in small samples than anything. He's had 2 quality games at home and 5 on the road. So we're talking about 7 good games out of 27. In samples that small, even one random quality game drastically sways the averages. Over his career he's been a bit better at home than on the road....but he hasn't been actually good anywhere.
Just wondering…could his diet and/or sleep habits have a variance between H/A? And I fervently agree the SS ERA served Rox very poorly, scarily so. Better draft picks? Mebbe, but c’mon…
Are the Rockets allowed to disclose living and sleeping habits of their athletes..... I solely heard of Cristiano Ronaldo sleeping a lot and having those power naps thru and thru.
Nope. Schroeder was not there for a long time. Played 15 games. John Wall wasn’t involved with the team consistently and did not play with Green on the court. He didn’t even travel with the teams in games. I said present on court leadership. That team did not have this. Augustin played 34 games in 21-22 before getting waived. Gordon was the one constant vet but it’s known he’s not a vocal person. I don’t doubt there was mentorship there but it may be limited. And it’s still one guy. Green didn’t have the luxury of SGA who had a legend in CP3 for one full year plus the offseason. Green did not have this luxury. The team was put together with young core players left to figure it out on the court.
Most talked about athlete not named Hakeem, Harden, Tmac or Yao. Or Jerry Lin or Daryl. The company is great.
I did a very subjective box score analysis of Jalen's offensive game using only shooting and not taking into account assists, TO's, and defense. I came away with 12 good games and 15 bad games. Of the 12 "good games", 3 were against a quality opponent. I think if you added TO's and Assists it might scew the good games down a bit. Home/Road stuff seems even less scientific. In any case, almost any way you slice it, Jalen has been a poor offensive player much more than he has been a good offensive player. The question then becomes whether his first two years under silas can be forgiven and whether we should continue to be patient with a 22 year old player with obvious potential. That potential is still tradeable even with his new contract. The other factor to consider is the availability of a difference maker outside the organization on whether to be patient or not. I personally think the best way forward given the lack of difference makers being available outside the organization is to try some different rotations to see if we can unlock some of that potential on a more consistent basis. I personally would like to see if inserting Amen over FVV would unlock Jalen. As a second option moving Jalen to the bench in favor of Amen. My biggest problem with that scenario is unless FVV takes on the role of spot up shooter you are still hamstringing Amen's ability to reach his potential and playing a slow methodical offense that in no way fits our personnel.
Yep which would also go with... When he's off... He's OFF... never seen a player like this in NBA history, but I remain hopeful for some serious growth in consistency before he enters his prime years.
No it is peak play... No disrespect, but I don't think you read or comprehended the part of the post about his true shooting percentage on that list.... That's not something that happens simply from more opportunities... He's not just getting 30+ or 40+ points from chucking up a lot of shots on cumulative volume/low efficiency. He's insanely efficient in those games at a superstar level.
And yet it's accurate. Almost no player as bad as Jalen has been these past 4 years would have kept getting the opportunity to keep chucking at the ridiculous rate he has. That's just the facts. How many times does the 16th best player in a draft according to VORP and win shares get the chance to chuck over 16 shots per game on their first 4 seasons? Is be shocked if that EVER happened before. Few teams want to tank badly enough to allow someone that bad to shoot that much.
For comparison, the 16th best player in the 2020 draft by VORP is Tre Jones who has averaged 6.9 shots per game Ty Jerome is 2019's 16th best by VORP and he's averaged 6.3 shots per game Kevin Huerter got 10 per game....
Wilson Chandler is the closest I can come up with so far, he was a 16th best by VORP who took 12 shots a game for his first 3 seasons... but not all with the same team.
