So, anybody who is playing the game, what do you think of the Will of the wisps? I hate these things. The first time I found one, I thought, this is neat and then it started kicking my ass and killed me. Then when I restarted to get my revenge, I ended up using quite a bit of my health potions. After that I resovled to never confront them but I just did a mission where I had to take on 3 at the same time. Thank god I carry some staffs that dole out nice damage. Anyways, watch out for the floating green lights, they'll get ya. Of course, I imagine if you are mages guild there must be a mission where you have to collect like 5 of them, so good luck with that.

Haven't seen one yet... but then I haven't done much yet... what level are you? I think I'm level 9.

Try lightning vs. Will o' Wisps.... I believe they have a lower resistance to it. Also if you're a mage and have completed mage guild quests create a spell that does something like drop enemy resistance to lightning or fire or whatever and then add a spell of that type that does damage. Right now I have a spell that does drops fire resistance by 100% and then hits with 35 pts fire damage. I don't have much magicka (I'm not a true mage, but a battlemage type), so what I do is spot from a distance, nail them a couple of times with that spell then when they get in melee range, if they're still alive, whack 'em with melee attacks and they're done.

Although I must admit, Necromancers have been giving me a bit of a problem lately... not much, but more than others have. I need to work on using other spells and block better.

Arrrggg... apparently I've only finished the part that allows me to make custom spells and enchant weapons, but there are many more quests before I become head of the guild... I was going to try and join the Fighters Guild, too... hmmm... I should be playing this game into 2010 at this rate... lol.

A quick way to enchant weapons is by closing oblivion gates. You'll figure it out once you do it.

    I'm level 11 or 12, Knight.

The wisps are definitely tough. On one mission I had to kill 3 of them. The first time I saw one, I was amazed how quickly I died. They dagamge your stats to. I found that once I killed one I had to run back to a temple for healing, or I couldn't kill anything else I saw.

Well, I am now Master of the Fighter's Guild and unlike Morrowind, where all that means is that people call you master, you still have duties, or you assign them actually and you get a cut of all the contracts that come in. Sweet.

I just finished closing my first gate. Crap, there were points in there where I thought I was going to wet myself. Some of those environments - especially when they sneak up on you or when they're tight quarters are flat out scary.

Cannifear or whatever? Yes they are ridiculous. They don't have a lot of hitpoints, but they do a ****load of damage. I'm level 16 and I can only kill 2 at a time. When there's 3 or more, I have use staves.

I've been doing main quests mostly... I'm on the third to last quest.

Those triceratops things are weak. The dremoras and necromancer types give me trouble sometimes when they move fast or go invisible. But the atronachs and horned guys aren't much of a problem. I think I'm level 10 now.

Ah ok, I just found out what you meant. I like to do it via the Mages Guild because you can control what enchantment goes on as long as you know the spell. I'm guessing you can't with the way you're talking about - or at least it doesn't seem you can. Thanks for letting me know about this... I wouldn't have even looked for it. :)

Hmm, I've closed one gate and I'm not sure what you guys are referring to...

Of course, I'm not a mage type character, so that may have something to do with it.

Rokkit, I don't think it's much of a spoiler, but:

************ POSSIBLE SPOILER COMING UP : SCROLL PAST ************

You know what you did to close the gate? The action itself? Look in your backpack for the object you did that action on and double-click it.

    ************ POSSIBLE SPOILER DONE ************

Haha, thanks DoD. Right under my nose. I mean I literally closed the gate last time I played, then had to shut the game off and haven't had a chance to look things over, so I missed it. Thanks for the info.

    Some sales info for Oblivion:

I might get some more exact figures later on this week, if/when the NPD numbers hit the net.

I finally got some extended time to play last night. I started out a custom character with the intentions of starting with the Mage guild quests. Unfortunately I spent a night in jail (1 night for murder!) and got the thief guild invite, so I decided to go ahead and start this. I have fenced a few things but I played for about 5 hours and still haven't even scratched the surface of the first few thief quests. i liek DoD will still be playing this game 5 years from now. So far though, the game is awesome (it would have to be to pull me away from WoW). Once I finally got the leveling stuff down, and once I figured out you could press "T" and make time pass, I have really enjoyed it.

Playing this weekend, I realized that what I really like about this game, more than the graphics and the open endedness, is the story. Even on Morrowind. You've got this epic main story for both of these games that could make a great book or movie and then you've got tons of side quests, all with their own interesting stories.

BTW, I wanna recommend an interesting quest, I think it's in Leyawin, where they talk about the missing painter. I thought I'd be running around trying to find a kidnapper or something, but it's pretty damn interesting what happened to the guy and what his secret is. The reward sucks ass, but the chance to see the game a different way will be worth it, check it out.

Have any of you guys with the PC version checked out any leveling mods? I've mostly stuck to getting mods that improve the graphics, improve the UI, fix some bugs, and tweak the gameplay (deadlier traps, no psychic guards, better scaling for items and monsters, etc); however, it seems like leveling mods are very popular, but since I don't even know how the regular leveling system works exactly, I don't know which mod would be the best.

I agree and I'll check out that quest. That really brings to light my problem. It seems like every time I get going on the thief quests I run into another quest. I feel like I need to finish the side quest I get, before I can continue with the guild quests.

Be careful when you think that way becuase you will end up like me. I have about 8 quests available under my current quests page. I am now just trying to get some of them done to narrow down the number I have to do right now. I took on a fighters guild quest early on in the game and it is still just sitting there waiting for me to do because of my picking up side quests along the way.
