LOL...You're funny...I bought this game a while ago but still haven't played it...one of these days... off topic, but I went to worst buy yesterday and they had a lot of PS3 games on clearance...What happens is that you also get an additional 25% off if the tag has a "C" on it...You have to go to customer service to get it as it doesn't do it automatically...TW 07 was $29 as 08 is coming by end of month, and picked up Sonic and Tennis for the kids for $29 as well...
Damn...I know I am late to the party, but I see what you guys were talking about throughout this whole thread. I've been playing 10 hours and am only at level 6. I've just started the Kvatch thing (the bit after you close the Oblivion Gate). In fact, I'm glad I re-read this thread and found out about the potential enchantments after you close the gates. I didn't even remember I had that item.
Finally finished the main quest, has anyone gotten any of the mods, or expansions and are they worth picking up? My 9 year old son and I have been playing this off and on for some time....it was great, but now we want more. DD
Not all of them, still waiting on my Spoiler Dragon Armor ..... Can you just wander around the world and do the side quests? DD
I haven't finished the main quest yet, but I installed the expansion quests. I didn't see anything new added to the map. When you play a game as much as I played this over the holidays I need a good long break.
I finished the main quest after I had finished all the side quests and all the guild quests (except for the thieves guild which interfered with my Dark Brotherhood missions later on, I didn't see any way to complete them both so I had to choose). Oblivion is definitely my favorite game of all time. About mods. I downloaded one really massive one that ads a lot of stuff and changes to all areas of the game. Unfortunately, I didn't get far despite the game looking even better than the original. For some reason, even if I absolutely love a game and even if the game has a high replay value, I can never finish it twice. I lose interest fast.
I've thought multiple times about plugging this back in and starting over with a different character. The thought of redoing all those original quests again and grinding my character back up again is preventing me from doing so, however.
I am really enjoying this thread, because I have no idea what you guys are talking about. The diction is incredible, separated from context. Please carry on, with as little self-consciousness as possible.
Has anyone tried any of the Mods for the game? I have the PC version and used the extended inventory Mod, which doubled the inventory size on screen, much better. But I have not tried any others.....any recommendations? DD
I used quite a few mods for the game, but I haven't played in nearly a year so I can't recall all of them. I know one of them was called Sentient Weapon, which allows you to do some quests which will award you with a talking weapon. If I recall correctly, its power doesn't increase depending on when you get it, so it's only strong if you get it fairly early in the game. Another one added foilage, birds, and various bugs to the environment to make it look more realistic. I just looked it up and it's called Natural Environments. I also had a bunch of special weapon mods, like the huge Berserker sword from Gut's Rage and the Atlantean and Father swords from the Conan movies. One other really cool mod I had was one that let you deposit your gold in banks and let it earn interest. Then there's little things that make a big difference, like the Open Cities mod that removes doors from cities and allows seemless entry and exit with no disruptive loading times. Check out this page for a bunch of mods: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Must_Have_Mods
