Clutchcity, you should look for mods that remove some restrictions on your character. It saves a lot of time and worrying about what order you should use. I played it unmodded and I felt that those limits were there to add hours and a sense of replay.... The Dark Brotherhood quests had the best story and rewards.
I had broken my Oblivion Jones when my 7 year old asked me to play again...so, 2 nights ago...back in I go !! Wonderful game.... My problem is that I stole something from someone in the fighters guild (didn't realize it) and now I need 13 more bear pelts to get back in.....UGH !!...Where can I get bear pelts? DD
All future content will be from both. Bethesda has already made several additions to the game and will probably continue, while the mod community made some great mods and will continue to do that as well. I'm sure there will be an expansion as well (there were 2 for Morrowind IIRC). Yeah, I read that somewhere, but I still couldn't get myself to do it. Maybe when I come back to the game, I'll try to do it anyway. Maybe become a vampire so it wouldn't seem as bad. Hehe...bears. I think a few stores sell bear pelts. I've forgotten which stores specifically, but it should be the ones that sell general goods altogether (plates, forks, lanterns, clothes, etc.). I think that's how I got most of my bear pelts.
I'm thinking of buying this game with my Christmas gift cards/ money. My current system is a Dell dual core 2.8 Ghz system with 1 gig of RAM (not sure which type). It isn't that old, but I just got the basic graphics card that came with it. Battlefield 1942 runs unbearably slow on it, so I know the current configuration won't work that well. I'm planning on spending around $200 on a nice graphics card. With a decent graphics card, would this system run Oblivion well?
Just wanted to mention that Oblivion will be getting released in Japan in the near future. We were just talking about this in one of the Japanese sales threads recently IIRC, and since then, the announcement was made. Not sure how well a RPG like it will sell in Japan, but apparently there is a bit of a following for it in Japan (which is probably the reason why they're bothering to localize the game, which won't be very easy).
so i've become a vampire and obtaining a cure is a total biotch... any other alternative cures besides going to the witch?
I know we have drug up a number of old threads here lately, but I finally nabbed the 360 version of this game and had a question. The box says there is some sexual content in the game. I have a 10 year old that desperately wants to play it after seeing me play some, and I wondered if anyone knew what this "sexual content" is and if it is really bad enough that I stop him from playing it. Anyone know what it is talking about? So far, the game seems pretty tame.
i borrowed this game from a co-worker of mine a few weeks ago, still have it, havent played it once. prob should pop that in.
I don't recall anything that bad. You can strip down characters to their underwear (lot of skin showing for brief nudity I guess, but certain parts are covered of course), which you can easily judge for yourself. There might be some "mild sexual references" in some of the dialogue or books, but I can't remember if there was anything really bad. The game was originally rated T, so I don't think it would be anything too bad. It was re-rated M due to the fact that PC users could mod the game to get nudity, and I think the ESRB felt as though there was more blood and gore in the game than they were lead to believe was in the game by Bethesda. It has been a long time since I played the game, so I might be forgetting something that was kind of bad though (nothing like the hot coffee mod in GTA:SA, but maybe something), especially stuff in the regular version of the game. FWIW, there will a GOTY edition coming out in a few months I believe. Also, to follow up on a previous post of mine, the game was recently released in Japan and it actually sold surprisingly well.
I bought the game for the PS3 a while ago. Wanted to resurrect this thread for some questions but I used another guide. AWESOME GAME. I think I did pretty much 75% of all the quests and I quit. To answer the above question, I think some of the NPC's wear some clothing that is "revealing"
Any chance running this on a core duo laptop w/ 1 gb ram w/ integrated graphics card on the absolutely lowest settings? From everything I've read/heard, I'd love to try this game out. But I don't really care to setup a gaming rig, and I'd like to run this more out of curiosity than actually playing it for an extended time.
Nope. Probably won't be out for a long time (maybe not until the next cycle of consoles), but it should be well worth the wait as always. The integrated graphics card kind of kills it since you have a decent CPU and RAM setup I believe. I don't know enough about your graphics card or how well Oblivion scales to lower-end systems to give you a good answer. I'd lean towards a yes since some people got the game working on really old hardware, but it wasn't very pretty (probably looked worse than Elder Scrolls III) nor was it easy IIRC. If you are ever going to get a PS3 or Xbox 360 (or have one already), it would probably be easier just to get the game for one of those systems. You do lose out on mods though...and I guess portability since you could be playing it on a laptop.
I hate this thread. And games like this one. To be more specific: I hate that I can neither 1) afford a PS3 or XBox 360 or 2) a computer that will run the damn game. By the time I'm ready, y'all will be talking about The Elder Scrolls XIII, and how you can actually get a blowjob from an Elvish princess. I won't be able to afford that, either.
The worst I remember (aside from people in skivvies that's been talked about) -- I have not downloaded the expansions so I can't talk about those: 1) When/if you join the Dark Brotherhood, and you talk to the ogre, he tells you a story about killing a 5 year old girl on her 6th birthday. However, you kinda have to fill in the blanks...something like "She asked me if I was a jester. I told her I was the angel of death. Ha ha ha. She'll never see her 6th birthday. Ha ha ha" 2) Also if you go in to one person (I think it's in Bravil, but I'm not sure), there's a guy that talks about rats. It reminds me of Forrest Gump -- rat stew, rat this, rat that, etc. But one thing he says is grilled rat with fried deer penis. 3) One of the missions has you meeting up in a cabin with two women and there's insinuation that they'll get in their skivvies if you give them gold. But they end up trying to rob you, so nothing really happens. If your kid can handle those, then I think they'd be ok. Everything else I remember was pretty tame, or along the lines of bad guys yelling "Why won't you die?!?!?!" and things like that.

While I haven't seen most of the game yet, there is a dark elf lady in Cheydinhal (I think), that references necrophilia....it's mentioned a few times, I believe.... ...so, you may have to explain what necrophilia is to someone...
That is the one I was thinking of. That is the closest it gets, Its more humerous than sexual in flavor and intent.
