I've "done" it.... not sure what ya mean by "experienced", though. :D

If you mean you're trying to cure yourself of vampirism, get ready -- it may take a while depending on your level and whatnot. I had to do it when I was in my early levels I think I was 10 or under and I spent a while trying to do everything required to cure myself.

I dont know what level I am off the top of my head but I did pull up a quick faq on it...

all Ive done so far is been told by a priest to go talk to another guy at the Academy. when I go to there the gates/doors are closed. any specific thing to do to get in this Academy to talk to this guy?

its a pain to be a vampire and to think i had no idea i got a bite until i went to sleep and had some kind of wierd dream. i cant travel between 7am-7pm and NO ONE wants to talk to me....also, im tired of walking by people and hearing, "you should see a healer, you dont look so good" and "is something wrong, your skin looks pale". :(

...yes, but you have powers nobody else has and your attributes are jacked up, too. :D

You're probably looking for a guy named Raminus? I'm not sure, but I may have had access to the Arcane University by then. Anyway, can you get into the tower part where there's 1 lady or something standing there with a portal or two around her on the ground? Raminus will eventually show up there. He's also usually walking around outside. Just wait hour by hour and he'll eventually show up.

Just a bump to see what everyone else is up to in the game.

I picked up where I left off about a week ago and have been doing a lot of the guild quests. I finished the Mages Guild quests, the Fighters Guild quests, and did a few Daedric Shrine quests, as well as a few of the main quests. Not sure how some of the other guilds work, but I liked the perks you get whenever you become master of the Fighters Guild and Mages Guild; it could be a little better, but at least it tries to make you feel like you're special. That's one thing I didn't quite like about Morrowind. You'd spend all your time trying to become master of a guild, but when you did, there wasn't anything special about getting the rank. At least that's not the case with Oblivion.

I'm up to level 34 IIRC, and have been working more on my combat skills as well as my destruction skill. If you recall, I used to just summon various creatures to do my dirty work, but now I can fight on my own. Part of that may have something to do with the fact that I have both Umbra's sword and Goldbrand, not to meantion a set of Daedric armor (plus various enchantments). :)

That said, I really like the destruction skills. I made it past 75 (expert level or something) the other day, and now I have a lot of handy spells. My favorite is a spell called Wizards Fury (IIRC), which is a spell given to you through a Mages Guild quest I think. I can usually kill most creatures by just throwing 1 or 2 of these spells at them. It was very useful during the quest to get the Goldbrand sword. Unfortunately, some enemies will absorb or reflect the spell, so then I'll have to start hacking them with my sword.

BTW, for those that have worked on or finished the Fighters Guild quests, did you have any problems with bugs during one of the quests? I forgot which quest it was, but I encountered one that wouldn't let me finish a quest. It had something to do with trolls in a "Swampy Cave." I believe I was supposed to see a dead body in one of the areas of the cave, but it wasn't showing up in my game. I ended up having to "fix" it through the TES Construction Kit, although it was a pretty sloppy fix. That was the only major bug I've found so far in the game.

I need some help with a quest

    POSSIBLE SPOILER

I am almost done with the fighter's guild quest, the one where I have to go get someone and bring him back to oreyn. I accidently killed him. And the game offers me no options as to what I can do to rectify the situation. Is there something I can do or is this it for the fighter's guild.

    END SPOILER

    END POST. :)

Was that the one with the Argonian mage from the Blackwood Company? I thought he couldn't be killed, but I guess not. I don't know of any way to go on without him; you were supposed to interrogate him for info once you returned him to Oreyn. And that info was pretty important IIRC.

I guess if you have the PC version and the Construction Kit, you can get around it by tweaking the scripts a little bit (making Oreyn think you got the information even though you didn't...since the guy is dead). Of course, I'm assuming you can't go back to a save before you killed him. That would probably be the easiest thing to do.

I'm not kidding guys... I haven't been able to play as much due to work, but I'm probably level 29 or 30 and I still haven't done any of the main quest past the regaining of Kvatch. I've been running around closing Oblivion Gates and getting money right and left. I think I'm lvl 90+ in Blade, and lvl 100 in Conjuration, Alteration, and Destruction. I can pretty much beat the snot out of anything... the toughest fights I have are against Goblin Warlords... these guys must level with me because my magic does hardly anything against them and whacking at them takes a while to kill them. They're about the only creatures I have to retreat a bit or backpedal against.

I'll probably start on the main quest sometime next week.

I stopped playing shortly after I finished the main quest and guild quests.

If you want to see something wacky, commit a crime in front of the mages guild tower, run inside the gates, let the guard follow you, and watch your fellow mages beat him up.

Afterwards you'll see random battles whenever that guard respawns. Free looting and the apprentce mages have good weapons to sell...

They're more available when you're at higher levels (20). There's no fixed place to find them because they're in chests, shops, or behind locked cases.
Breakin in a house and getting your fix is easier if you're still early in the game.

Are you sure you don't want to be a vampire? It is annoying at times, but the lose of the beefed up attributes really help out. I just cured myself.

I miss Hunter's Sight, the beefed up Willpower, and the beefed up Destruction. If I couldn't summon a Xivilai, I would have a serious Potion of Sorcery addiction going on as my best destruction spells now are too costly.

rusHour. There are merchants that sell grand soul gems. Buy one, then go around to other merchants and see if they have them for sale. Check to see if they're being sold in the various Mages Guild locations, too. They respawn after a while in the merchant's inventory. That's how I got my last 2 or 3 I think.

You can find most of the 5 (I think) GSGs you need lying around the various Mage Guilds. Just keep looking around. Plus, since you're a member, it's not stealing when you grab them. Also, check the basement of the house where the woman who makes thee cure. I believe there's one in a bowl there.

The vampire cure quest is a pain. One of the few real "scavenger hunt" quests in the game. Be ready to go ingredient hunting all over the place.

Been a while since this thread has been on the front page, but I dug it up because I finally got the damn game lol.

I didn't want to get it if it were barely going to run on my PC, so I built a new one that is a beast in comparison. Now I can play Oblivion on high settings and boy am I glad I waited. The game is beautiful in every way.

I'm Level 4, if I recall correctly, and am really getting settled in nicely. The vastness of the world and the depth of the menu/control system takes some getting used to, but it's starting to become second nature.

    Anybody else still playing?

I quit playing it a while back so that I could spend some time playing my PSP and a few PC games. I had finished the main quest (which is awesome BTW), all the guild quests except for the Dark Brotherhood (too much of a wuss to become an assassin), most of the Daedric Shrine quests, and maxed out my level and most of my attributes and skills. I checked out a few mods that added some interesting quests (Pyramid Head mod was descent), but it didn't keep me playing that much. Still, I think I ended up with well over a 100 hours invested in the game.

I figured it would be a good idea to forget about the game temporarily and wait for the mod makers to do their thing. I haven't check that much into this yet, but I'm sure there are some nice new mods to try out (some of the alpha/beta mods might be done by now). Plus some newer textures for some of the things that weren't covered in the initial texture packs. I might have to wait until I start college just so I can download them on a broadband connection. :)

Do you know if all future content will be mods from fan creators or the pay-for-patch type of content from BEthesda? Will they make a full fledged expansion for the game?

I'm an on again off again player. I played one character through the Mage Guild and main quest, but have now started a new character. I'm basically freelancing and doing Fighter Guild stuff when I'm in the neighboorhood of their nex quest.
