Great game, but I accidently murdered a priest and the Dark Brotherhood wants me to join up now. No thanks, I like my paladin way of life....well except for my chugging machine which caused me to hack up that priest..... LOL ! DD
Ok, so I have one disappointment at the moment... I had waited and waited to finally fight Xivilai (sp?) because everyone kept saying they were so tough. They're wussy. I mean seriously... about 2 or 3 blasts of a spell and they're dead. To me, Storm Atronachs and maybe those giant spiders that spawn the baby spiders are tougher... eh... whatever.
I just maxed out my conjuration to 100. It took forever. I made a conjure dagger spell that was weak and only cost 1 magicka when used and kept casting it when I was traveling or walking around. Summoning those Liches, and Dremora Lords to help out in fights is pretty cool. Its like having allies all the time!
There ARE Dark Paladins ya know. I actually liked the DB quests. Some good stuff in them too. You get at least one item that gives you small stat boosts, and the outfit you get at the end helps you out a LOT if you like/have to sneak around.
I specialized in blade, alchemy, and conjuration. It's made the game too easy. I couldn't rush into conjuration because it messed up my bonus skill points when I leveled up. Feather potions are real handy on quests.... Those who want to optimize their game settings a little more should try the Tweaper ini editor. I run the game on decent settings, but it's allowed me to turn on more effects without any hits....
Is there a mod that let's you wear your robe over your armor like you used to be able to do in Morrowind?
I think I saw at least one mod that let you do that. I'll post a link to it later if necessary. edit:Here's one, although it isn't perfect: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=102
Ok, Instead of me hooking up a new 3.2 ghz machine with 1 gig of ram, which I have in storage, I decided to take my 2.5 ghz machine up to 1.3mg of ram from 512. Only one problem, it is a dell dimension 8200 and it needs Rambus, so I had to order it from Ebay for $300.......should be in sometime this morning. I can not wait to see how it effects my play..... I just did not want to be bothered with transfering applications all day, but if it is still slow, that is what I will be doing. UGH !! DD
So has anybody turn the difficulty all the way up just for the heck of it? Holy crud I got beat down. I have a pretty strong character at "normal" difficulty, but all the way up I was destroyed.
Here's one mod I'm looking forward to: http://canadianice.ufrealms.net/for...7e5f45ce758ad50985f5c339e238845e&topic=2731.0 It basically replaces a bunch of the textures from the game with textures like these: http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/9034/cheydinhal01after0iv.jpg http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/6308/grassclover01after5ch5kn.jpg http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/9563/leavesafter0ea1bk.jpg http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/9804/mossgrass01after9vc.jpg http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/3208/mossgrass02after9xr3ou.jpg http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/4821/mount02after3sz0vn.jpg http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/806/needlesafter2db7db.jpg There are a lot more at the link above (with before images as well for comparison). I think the the guy who made these is trying to get these up on http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/ sometime tonight.
Signs you've been playing too much Elder Scrolls: I just got back from shopping for groceries. When I was turning into my driveway, I could see my wisteria in bloom, and several vines of blue flowers and a shrub of white flowers. It made for a bright, multicolored view. Rather than revel in the beauty of nature, for a split second I tried to figure out what potions I was going to be able to make. I need an intervention.
I heard there is a mod for the PC version that opens up your inventory and makes it much easier to use? Anyone have this? Supposedly it lets you see a lot more of your inventory on each screen. DD
I think you're talking about BTmod: http://www.tescreens.be/oblivionmodwiki/index.php/BTmod http://btmod.beider.org/ Most people have it on their "must have" list of mods.
On a similar note my wife noticed that our neighbors have some nirn root on their balcony. It looks almost identical.
Will I be able to play this on my computer? Here are my specs: RADEON 9550 (100$ GFX card, but has run CS Source efficiently) I currently don't have much space... but that can easily change, I'll just delete stuff. 2.2 GHZ 768 RAM So please tell me this is enough. I don't want to upgrade.
You might be able to play it, but I doubt it will play very well. The minimum specs have the Radeon 9500 series as the lowest card supported by ATI IIRC, and they ask for at least a 2 GHz Pentium.
You won't be able to get a lot of the visual effects of the game with that setup... that video card is low end, the RAM may be too low, and the processor is low end for the game as well. I would upgrade.
I'm not asking for good graphics really... I just want no lag, and no choppy frame rates. How much is this game again?
It'll look ugly, but I think you can run it on 800x600 with nothing turned on. You could try tweaking and overclocking your card afterwards.
