Ok, Great game but it is almost unplayable on my PC, should I have gotten the X-box 360 version instead? How important is Ram, I only have 512 on the machine I am playing it on. DD
They recommend that you have 1GB in order to play the game somewhat decently IIRC. So I'm sure the RAM is a factor, although the game relies on a good graphics card and CPU as well. You do need a nice system in order to play the game. It is up to you on what version to play, but personally, I just love the mods for Oblivion, even in their early state.
You need 1 GB of RAM... I'm running with 2 gigs. I'll have to see how much it's eating up. You need a fast processor. You absolutely need a very good video card if you want really good visual effects. Right now, even a 7800 GTX gets choked at max settings. I have a 7800 GT that back in November was probably the 2nd or 3rd fastest card out there. If I have to battle in the grass, I'm in trouble... lots of clipping and choppy framerates. Everywhere else I'm fine, but I try to avoid fighting in tall grass. lol. From what I understand, this is the worst or worse on nVidia cards. I'm almost tempted to upgrade my video card even though I only bought this thing in November. The 360 has its own problems. There're apparently some bugs in that version that can't be fixed with mods (unlike on the PC version).
You probably should have just opted to buy it for 360 (if you have one of course). Although it does have its fair share of problems. When you ride your horse through the field, the game lags for a second or two when it loads. And my Oblivion tends to freeze alot. It might by my XBox since I've heard that many first generation XBox's overheat, but every so often the game would flat out freeze. Whether in the game or in the loading screen. For a while everytime I cast Bound Dagger it would freeze too. AND for some reason when I'm flipping through menus real fast it lags. Come on, it's a menu. Ok stop rant. I love this game.
I have a better machine, is it possible to transfer saved games? I really don't want to start over, as I just closed the first gate and met up with Martin... DD
I'm pretty sure you can transfer saves since I think I saw some saves available online (allowing you to skip the 1st hour or so of the game to make your character). IIRC, I think the saves are located in a folder under My Documents. Under "My Games" or something like that.
Hehe...another mod that I'll need to check out eventually: That would be a nice surprise as a boss in some quest...especially if they could put in the sound of the sword dragging on the floor.
Got to love getting a horse and traveling directly to your destination. Also, if you accidently hit someone with your blade, is there any way to turn them back into a friend? DD
Talk to them while pressing the block button. If they were on good terms with you before, they'll stop fighting you.
I'm guessing most of the hardcore players have already found this forum, but there are some really cool free mods over here... http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showforum=25
So fess up, which one of you Elder Scroll Lotharios have been ravishing the beauties of Oblivion with the Adult content mods?
Yup... that's the official site. Best place to get info about the game and help if needed. Can't believe I haven't played all day.. well we're just gonna have to change that...
It's like saying is Dungeons and Dragons Lord of the Rings. Yes, it's all about the sword and sorcery, but this is a kick ass video game that will hook you in immediately.
Im getting my very own 360 tomorrow and Im very excited to continue playing a Obilvion game I started at my bros...
