All the Daedric shrines that I've found where from talking to people. I think it's either somebody in each Mages guild or a hunter who has traveled a lot. They'll be like "Daedric shrines? Yeah, I've seen one here" or "I know of a couple" and they'll mark your map. But I think before that, you have to talk to somebody who tells you that you should ask around to find out about Daedric shrines and that might be what you are missing.
Oski, for me that's where the book came in... I think there's one or two other ways they start talking about them. Because I know people that I had talked to repeatedly had said nothing about the shrines, then all of a sudden they started mentioning them and adding them to my map. After looking into it, that Heretic book is supposedly one way to start it. There may be others ways, too...
Just did the quest for Goldbrand. That was pretty easy actually. What helped was that the first 2 I killed had over 100 health potions on them. The majority of the rest of them didn't even get a lick in on me thanks to my modified spell : Elemental Hammer 2 Drain Health 100 pts for 1 sec Weakness to Magic 100% for 3 secs Weakness to Fire 100% for 3 secs Weakness to Frost 100% for 3 secs Weakness to Shock 100% for 3 secs Fire Damage 15 pts for 2 secs on target Frost Damage 15 pts for 2 secs on target Shock Damage 15 pts for 2 secs on target I finally met a few that reflected damage back on me, but it was no biggie - my shields and armor held most of the damage at bay. Not to mention since I'm a Dark Elf I have 75% fire resistance. I also realized how weak my enchanted elven sword with 11 drain health for 1 sec was... that was so stupid of me to use that weapon since the effects are only temporary (1 sec) before they shoot right back up. And 11 pts is pretty much nothing. So now I guess Goldbrand and Umbra will be my weapons... unless I can enchant a Daedric sword or something to be better. Also the loot you can take out of this quest is sick. I suggest you guys take some fortify strength or feather-enchanted gear with you to haul it back. I also managed to nearly get a full set of Daedric armor off the bodies in there. Very nice haul. Now I can go eat lunch and get some sunlight...
I enchanted all of her armor and that is what I wear. I think I enchanted some with strength, the helmet with night-eyes for dungeon crawling, the armor itself with shield. I think I gave the boots speed. I'm not sure, but I have a pretty good set of armor from her stuff.
Yeah, I think Daedric is better, but I haven't looked and after doing that Goldbrand quest, I almost have a full Daedric set, so I think I'll stick with that.
I tried to enchant something for the first time today. My soul gem wasn't powerful enough, or the soul in it wasn't. I was trying to do damage health 10 points for 15 seconds on my daedric longsword. I thought the soul I had in there was pretty good. I will have to collect some more souls, and see what I can come up with. What kinds of creatures did you anyone capture for their enchantments?
If you're trying to capture souls, go do the Azura's Shrine quest. If you're enchanting, go shut down Oblivion Gates... the sigil stones are better than grand soul gems. I just shut my 2nd gate down and I'm going to go after a few more. This last one is going to give me a shield with 20% shield. Meaning I can free up another item that has 10% shield on it and throw INT, STR, or Fortify enchantments on it. BTW, if you get 20% Chameleon on about 4 or 5 items (if it lets you do 100% Chameleon), the game is pretty much over. You can sit there whacking at anything and they won't be able to do much back because they won't know you're there... seeeerious design flaw in the game. So I'm not going to use chameleon on anything... blah. Let's see... it's been about 6 hours... time to play again...
Oh, and FB, the more powerful the enchantment on your weapon, the more useless it becomes it seems. lol. The really powerful, long-lasting enchantments can only be cast a few times before it runs out of charges and you have to recharge. You can fight one or 2 monsters and your weapon becomes chargless - a regular ol' weapon. Sadly, the best weapons I've had are ones I've found... the only exception may be if I can get a Daedric Longsword and enchant it. That one could be as good if not better than Goldbrand or Umbra. The best enchantments for me have been spell enchantments... they're just flat out wicked. I can pretty much take out Oblivion gates easily now. They take a bit of time, but I'm getting to the point I can take on 2 or 3 daedra at once (I have dodge, recharge, etc., but...). And if it's one daedra, or a bandit, or archer or spellcaster... forget it... they're dead meat in one or two strikes if they don't have good armor.
I've gotta say, an Umbra/Goldbrand combo is nasty. You start with a hit or two from Umbra, then switch to Goldbrand to finish them off. If you keep Azura's Star (reuseable Spirit Stone) the entire time, you never have to worry about running out of enchantments on your weapons.
I did the grandchampion arena thing at the peak. 3 minotaur lords, I beat them with half a life bar left. No spells, potions. My character is a melee monster. The funny thing is, if I were to have been really anal about leveling, my character could have been much more powerful, i.e. I didn't use my training quota usually, and I rarely got 5 point level ups, usually I got 2s or 3s. I'm not sure you can enchant a sword to be better than goldbrand. First off the attack rating of goldbrand is better than the daedric longsword, and even if you have a grand soul I don't think you can have more than +25 elemental damage.
I have no choice but to level 2 & 3 pts at a time... I'm melee and mage... I am trying to keep my blade, destruction, alteration, heavy armor, endurance, wisdom, intellect, strength, etc. high. Right now all those are around 74-109. I'm lvl 21 at the moment. For me it's starting to be about the battle more than the quest... main quest? what main quest?
*** POSSIBLE SPOILER *** I think I know what you're talking about, but you don't have to give up that particular artifact... you can give up another one. *** POSSIBLE SPOILER ***
Thanks for the info on Enchanting. If I can bug the experts with a question on spell usage, I will ask. If I am being too much of a pain then just let me know. How did you create such killer spells that use such little mana? I tried to create one but it said I needed a 100 level in destruction or Alteration to use it. Either that or it was going to use 100 magika each time. I can't remember exactly.
Well I have over 230 Magicka and I'm Expert level in Destruction (lvl 97 at the moment). So that's why I can cast all that crap in one spell for about 90 or so magick I think. But as you can see, with only 230 Magicka, I can only cast it 2 times before having to recharge. Most of my time, I'm trying to raise melee and destruction skills. If I had concentrated only on raising destruction/magicka the spells would be even less expensive to cast for me and I'd have more magicka. But I wanted to do both with my character.
Oh, and I have a helm and necklace I enchanted with +10 Intelligence... that helps the total magicka count.
Ok, that is good to know. Thanks for the tips. I will have to do some serious plannings to figure out exactly what armor pieces I will enchant with what spells in order to get the most out of this. Thanks.
