That's what I thought, but it's hard to find civilian clothes that are expensive enough (I read that it's like 70 gold in value) to fool the guard. Armor won't cut it, even though my armor, rings, and necklace have a value of about 15k. And Umbra was easy. Snuck up behind her, sneak attack for 6x damage, then Goldbrand blew her up. It was a fun fight.
lol. I understand. But that's what make RPG's cool. I, personally, could never play a thief... ever in an RPG. I'm always a fighter, a mage, or a combination of the two. I like to get up in their face and let 'em know who's killing them... (or vice versa...)
I pwned her at level 23. I lost maybe 1/15 of my hitpoints? I have blade = 127. My armor class is really high like 57 or something, weapons just don't do that much damage to me. The only thing that still gets me sometimes is magic. I could have killed Umbra just blocking. I have reflect = ~40% total.
I think I'm level 20. My blade is only 77. My destruction is 94. Your armor is only 57?? I think mine's at 85. Maybe the reflection and blade helped you. Dunno. Is that 40% reflect magic or all damage? Because I don't think Umbra had a magic attack did she? I don't remember. I was too busy swinging for the fences... lol.
Maybe I'm wrong about armor, I have all daedric besides my helmet. I wish my destruction were that high. I have 100+ on blade and heavy armor, everything else is pretty low I don't have enough spell points to cast good spells, so I've never developed my magic. I think my destruction and restoration are at 60 that's it. I have a necklace that raises blade 25 and reflects 33% damage (i presume it's physical damage) and then a ring that reflects 6% damage. The reflect damage is really nasty. Used to be I'd be screwed when there were multiple foes, now I just block until they're softened up for killing. How many SP do you have? I think I chose a bad race for spellcasting (imperial) I only have like 130 or something.
Well, I'm not a pure spellcaster, so I try to play where I do pretty good damage from a distance with my most powerful spell(s), then if they come in, I have an Elven sword I added +11 Drain Health to... so it does about +25 damage per strike I guess (if they have no magic resistance). Not sure I should be using that or Umbra which only does +23 damage for me. I had to have the ability to cast good spells though... I love to blast from a distance. I wish I could cast paralysis... that would be a hell of an enchantment on a weapon. I have 230 SP. Some other stats : LVL : 20 STR : 97 INT : 90 WILL : 88 END : 69 Destruction : 95 Blade : 77 Alteration : 75 Conjuration : 58 Heavy Armor : 72 Armorer : 54 Everything else is less than 50 I think - pretty blah. I just went through the clearing out of Kvatch pretty easy. I'll probably go do some Fighters Guild or Mages Guild quests later.
Hmm... you know, maybe you're right about armor. I just remembered I have +10% Shield on 1 or 2 of my armor and another 2 rings of +10% shield. So maybe 57 is right.
Are the Daedric quests the ones where you need the dark soul gems? Just frome the bits and pieces I have spied on from you guys posts, they sound pretty cool. But if they are too evilish I won't do it with this character at least. I might try it with another incarnation.
where the devil are the daedric quests...i dont even know where to start looking, the loot seems awesome...
**** DAEDRIC QUESTS SPOILER **** I don't know what exactly triggers it... I know one thing that triggers it is if you finish the recommendation quests for the Mages Guild. I don't know about for everybody else. If you walk around and read books, you'll come across one that has a title of something like "Modern Heretics <and something else>". I found it somewhere in the Arcane University. It's in one of those rooms that are all in a row along the wall that includes the place where you enchant armor and create your own spells. (sorry can't exactly remember where). The quests are also level-based, too. So if you're level 15, you may not have access to some of them. I Know if you're level 20 you'll have access to all of them but 1. And that last one you can only do when you've done all the others. Pack a lunch... they take a while from what I understand. I haven't done any yet. I just wanted Umbra, so I went into the dungeon and got it from the lady (you can walk in there and she'll basically challenge you to a fight regardless of if you're on the Daedric quest associated with her or not).
i dont get it, ive finished the fighters, mages, AND thieves guild quests and still nothing...whats going on, is there anywhere else to look besides in books?
So there are shrines all over the contryside with usually 3 worshippers, talk to the altar and it gives you quests
Just installed it and Jean Luc Picard is talking to me in prison....OMFG !! Seems very well done ...wow !! DD
Oh, I had heard she would challenge you no matter what. Hell, I just buzzed her with spells from the balcony until she came up after me... lol. Oops... hopefully I didn't kill the game because of that.
Yup, and people in towns will start giving you the option of clicking on a shrine's name I think in their dialogue. Click on it when you're talking to them and they'll add a map marker where the shrines are located. Not all of them are via dialogue I don't think (I could be wrong). Some of them you just have to find, I believe.
Well, my guy's growing up pretty well. Since now people are posting their characters, mine is: Level 23 Nord Paladin (custom class) 424 HPs 92 SPs (yeah I bash people to death for a living) 359 Fatigue Stats (with buffs) STR: 111 INT: 46 WILL: 62 AGI: 69 SPD: 44 END: 117 PER: 37 LUCK: 50 Major stats are Armorer (76), Blade (100), Block (60), Heavy Armor (90), Conjuration (33), Restoration (67), and Security (41, but the Skeleton Key makes it 91). My Sneak is actually 62 and Athletics is 48, and everything else is in the dumps. My equpiment is pretty nice. If I need to sneak around, I've got my Black Hand gear which adds 15 to Sneak along with several other stat boosts. My everyday wear is Daedric boots, cuirass, and greaves, Ebony gauntlets, and the Helm of Oreyn Bearclaw. I also have the Eschuteon of Chorral (7 pts. End. boost, 20% reflect) for a shield. Jewelry varies, but I've pretty much settled on Cruelty's Heart for the necklace and the Grand Ring of Aegis (18% shield) and the Mind and Body Ring (6% reflect, 6 pt. Str). Total defense rating of 85. As for weapons, I've got the Bow of Winter (20 pt Frost dmg) and Goldbrand for up close (22 pt. Fire damage). Plus I have the Blade of Woe as a backup (10 pt. Will, health, and magicka damage on hit and demoralize). I guess I'll just turn in Umbra to complete the quest, because it keeps freezing when I refuse to turn it over to the Daedric statue.
