There's definitely nothing wrong with it. In the info on Soul Trap it specifically says that you can summon creatures and then kill them for their souls. I've been doing this quite a bit for that purpose.
Otto... do you have Azura's Star? That makes it even more fun... and it's a relatively easy quest (one or two battles could be tough).
Since it's part of the info, I guess there's nothing wrong with the summon trick.... After reading about that Umbra sword, I tried killing her at level 10 only to get beaten the crap out of me. During one of the tries, some random dude from the main quest came in and started fighting with me. It still wasn't enough. On the next try, I sneak attacked Umbra and ran like crazy back to the Imperial City. Even on horseback she gave me a chase, screaming out stuff like, "Why are you still alive!!!" At the gates, there's guards posted there, and they started attacking her too! She laid waste to the guard outside, and I went into the town where there were 4 guards posted. After 2 real minutes and 2 dead guards (whom I looted along with the guard outside), they finally took her down. I'm now the proud owner of a serial killer's cool sword along with other loot I didn't have to fight for....
BTW, how good is Umbra's sword when you first get it? I'll probably need to start searching for some good equipment when I get a chance to play again, and that sounds like a nice place to start looking. I have a mod that will scale special items like that when I level up (so that I don't "miss out" on getting the better version of the item at a lower level), so it might be a nice item to have around with me.
Really, so the damage rating is 18? Somebody else confirm this. Isn't the daedric longsword 24? That's what I thought it was...
I got 18, but I haven't used one at my current level where an ebony katana is at 24. Daedra stuff is supposed to be the best.
Does anybody know if there is a quest involving those pirates at the Imperial city dock. I completely forgot about how early in the game I walked on to the ship after they warned me to back off and then they started chasing me and the Imperial guard plus that one famous guy, something Lex, showed up and killed them all.
Can someone help me out and tell me a couple of things. First the best armor and weapon I have is Dwarven, where do I get some better stuff because I am getting owned by mountain lions. And is there anything that can help me raise my magika up because as of right now it is at a pathetic 80
One more question, I have about 30 soul gems but have no idea how to get a soul in one. I believe you have to have some sort of special weapon, but have no idea where to find it.
To get your magika up, make sure the next time you level to increase intelligence as one of your 3 increases. You may have to do it for a few levels in a row. You can also have fortify magika spells and potions. I believe that the armor you find depends on what level you are. As you go up in level you will start fighting people with better armor and weapons.
For the soul gems, you can either learn a soul trap spell, buy scrolls that do it, or you can find or enchant a weapon that does it. I believe that if you use a scroll or learned spell, you just cast it while aiming at a recently killed opponent, if you get a weapon, it does it automatically when you kill somebody or something with it.
Okay, I don't have this game, and I haven't even seen anything but maybe a couple screen shots of it, but this little story here has convinced me that I must own it. Any game that involves a NPC character chasing you all across the countryside on horse screaming out "Why are you still alive?!!" HAS to be the greatest game of all time. If only my computer were even remotely close to being able to handle it.
Umm... read the thread and the reviews online. Hell yes. The only issue you may have is video cards. I have issues with settings that are kind of high and when walking through grass. I have a 7800GT... even people with 7800GTX's apparently have this problem.
No Sh*t... Between reading about the game here, and over at the Elder Scrolls Oblivion forum, this game looks amazing. Unfortunately, it's probably not worth buying a bunch of computer upgrades just to handle it... that, my girlfriend would kill me because I'd be playing all the time...
Depends... if you're an armorer over 100%, you can get the base to around 30 I think (I think that's how it works). I think Goldbrand or an enchanted Daedric Longsword are the two best weapons in this game.
To get better armor/weapons, you need to get higher in level. The armors that drop off kills are almost all leveled to where you are. To get more magicka, use a fortify magicka spell or invest in intelligence-raising activities so that when you level, you can raise your Intelligence by a lot of points. Some things to remember if you're getting owned : 1) check your armor's health... as it goes down, so does your ability to deflect damage. 2) increase your skill level with heavy or light armor (dwarven is heavy). If your skill level is low for that type of armor, it will get damaged a lot easier.
