Well, I continued with the Fighter's Guild quests tonight. In one of them, you infiltrate a headquarters of a rival faction. Let's just say that the loot in there should help solve some of your money problems. I got an almost complete set of Daedric armor (pretty sure it's the best heavy armor in the game) as well as a ton of glass armor (light armor), a couple of other pieces or magic armor, and several magic weapons. All told, I grossed about 10k gold out of the cave. Granted you might get different drops based on level (I was at level 18) but it looks like a nice place to get some loot.
The Orrery mod is on XBL now. I'm not sure how the PC people can get it though. Bethesda still has it listed as "Coming Soon" on their website when I checked it just a few minutes ago. Maybe that will be updated later on in the day.
What's the coolest item you have? Necklace of Swords. Fortify blade 25pts., reflect damage 33%. Worth over 15K.
Did you find it or make it? Question: When you enchant items, can you put more than one enchantment on it or are you limited to one at a time? I can only put one. EDIT: Nevermind. You can only put one constant effect on armor and jewelry. You can put multiple effects on weapons.
If anyone gets this game... whatever you do... don't wait till you're leveled to play the main quest... and don't do it as a multi-class type of character... that is all. (... returning to get my arse kicked some more... )
I guess I am in for a lot of trouble then. I'm level 21, and just done Kvatch, and the part immediately after that which didn't require but one little fight against an assassin. I guess I am going to have a difficult go of it.
FranchiseBlade, To be honest, it's not that bad for me... I'm level 14 and one-on-one and 2-on-one (me being "one"), I can take on clannfear and daedra and fire atronachs (which are weak to me because I have 75% fire resistance). The problem is when I have to repair my armor... I'm screwed. I'm only apprentice in armor repair, so I can't repair enchanted armor. After about 2 battles, my armor is starting to get worn... after about 3, it's shot. So if I leave Oblivion to repair and come back, everything's respawned. Ugh. BTW, I just completed the Shrine of Azura quest. It can be fairly tough against 1 or 2 of those orcs if you're unlucky enough to have a weakness that happens to be their strength... that's all I'll say... once you've figured that out, it's a breeze. The reward is worth it, though, in my opinion.
As for the coolest weapon I have? Not a flippin' thing... all I ever get is junk. lol. I have an enchanted sword I created that adds 11 points of damage per whack and a few other enchanted items, but nothing I can think of that I found that's really all that great... man, y'all suck. BTW, I think it's just wrong there's a sword called the "Eltonbrand" in here... where the hell is the TMac or the YaoMing? *EDIT* : wups, from reading further, that's only in Morrowind... not sure about Oblivion. Wow, I hadn't even thought about that while playing Morrowind.
Well, I didn't wait to do the actual quest, I just found the Umbra chick and killed her for her sword. She's tough...it took me 4-5 tries and a ton of potion to get her. (she's in a cave just South of the Imperial City on the road that loops all the way around the city. South of the imperial city if you are walking South and then East on the road (counter-clockwise), the road splits for a little while then comes back together. where it comes back together is her cave) It is supposed to be one of the best in the game. I took all of her Ebony armor and enchanted it all with Strength and Feather modifiers + a strength ring and a strength necklace that I enchanted. So now I have about 102 in strength and can carry about 600 lbs. of stuff at level 8. I also enchanted a helmet with night eyes, which is extremely helpful in dark dungeons. No more stupid torches or having to use a light spell which then draws all the baddies attention. With my huge strength number plus the Umbra sword, I can pretty much slaughter everything at my level. I just looted all the soul gems from all the mage guild halls and can pretty much keep the Umbra sword enchanted (automatic soul capture). I usually have to carry an extra sword or two because I still can't repair magical items, but with being able to carry so much stuff, it doesn't really matter. The best part is that I can pretty much loot everything in an entire dungeon and never have to be selective. EDIT: My buddy who has been playing longer and who is about level 15 says that around level 12, some of the best loot in the game is dropped by the random bandits out in the country. Has anybody else noticed this? I haven't gotten far enough along to get quality bandit dropped items. Double edit: I also just tried the item duplication glitch for the heck of it and accidently duplicated 140 Ebony sheilds in the middle of the Imperial City street. I don't really like cheating so I didn't save it, but it was pretty hilarious to see 140 Ebony shields lying all over the place. I was so tempted to do it with the grand sould gems that I found in the arcane university, but I'm keeping myself from using glitches. If interested here's the easiest version of the glitch: (copied from gamefaqs message board) 1.Equipe some arrows. The amount you have is how much you will dupe it. 2.Whatever itme is being duped, you must only have 1 with you. (note: I found this isn't always the case) 3.Throw a punch,in the middle of the punch press B to go to inventory 4.Click A ONCE on the arrows you have equiped. 5.Go to the item your going to dupe and press X to drop 6.Get out of the inventory screen and watch as your character punches the item you dropped it should split into many Note: Some people say you should do more than 70-80 of an item or you might freeze up, other people say no more than 400 or so. It depends on if you are playing on the PC or XBOX360 (XBOX can handle more, usually) and if playing on a PC, how good it is (can the PC handle that many loose items on the screen at one time all of a sudden. Also, doesn't work on every item, just try it out on different things. I personally don't reallly like glitches, but they can be fun to fool around with. I won't judge your use of this or not.
Well, since I've finished the maind quest, I've been doing Deadra shrine quests to fill up the time while I wait for my reward for the main quest. Definately do the Shrine of the Nocturnal quest. If you haven't found it, just take some time to fast travel around to all the towns and go into the Mages guilds or look for scouts/hunters and see if the topic of Daedric shrines pops up until you find it. It's an ok quest but the reward is awesome, so if we're talkig about cool items, this isn't much of a spoiler She gives you the Skeleton Key. It's lock pick worth 5000 gold and it can't break and it shoots up your security skill. Another one I did results in a sweet weapon, an ebony katana that absorbs health, does 24 damage (I'm a master at blade), and I think it has one more effect, but I forgot it. The quest you have to do, is tough if you are trying to keep your character moral.
That unbreakable lockpick sounds good, but really, can folks not pick locks? I only have about a 43 security skill and I can pretty much pick any lock I come across with a little patience.
I upgraded my video card because of this game and I must say that it was well worth it. Ive been going to www.tessource.com to download some of the mods, some of them make the game so much better.
I only saw one during one of my quests to get recommendations for the Arcane university, but you needed to keep it to advance in the guild I think. I think black soul gems are used by the Necromancers, so maybe some of them have some. If not, I think I read you could make them. I think there is some sort of altar somewhere (forget where, think it is part of an Arcane University/Mages Guild quest) that will let you change a regular soul gem to a black soul gem, although you have to do it at a certain time. Someone else might have more specific info, but I think it is something like that.
To make a black soul gem I THINK (empahsized) that you have to take a grand soul gem to a Necro altar. Then you wait for night and cast any sort of "dispel" spell at the gem. Voila, Black Soul Gem. I haven't tried it myself, that's just how I've heard you do it. To find a Necro altar, you find one when you get fairly deep into the Mage Guild quests. I wonder if I can enchant Daedric armor. The stuff is heavy. The sword kicks ass though. Again, heavy (48 weight I believe) but it does good damage (24). I would like to find something a bit better though. Maybe I'll start doing the Daedric shrine quests. Might have something worth my while in them.
btw this may be a stupid question for a guy whos like 30 hours into the game, but what do dispel spells do?
Well I mean sometimes you run out right? I don't like saving and loading before picking locks, the load times is slow. So usually I carry around 100 lockpicks, when I get down to 0, I get another 100. That's what like 30 pounds? Even though I can carry like 700, I'd still like to not have to tow the extra weight.
