If I was Supreme Dictator for a day my first law would be for public figures who spout false information be required to publicly retract it and apologize.
Part of this is true, there is always unemployment. 6.7% is not normal. Prove it. What's the trend over the past 30 years?
It's just sad but again no longer surprising that there is all this outrage over this bill from people at a time when expanded unemployment is going to run out the day after Christmas. Many are still out of work. I understand there is a lot to criticize about this bill but it took months to work this out and putting this wrench into it now just means it will take much longer to get aid to those who need it.
I don't know how much this has been brought up but one of the consequences of not signing the Omnibus spending bill is that the government is only funded until Monday and there could be a government shutdown then if nothing is done.
The Grinch is Orange this year. Own dem Libs gud Donnie boy!! I sent muh paychecks to Proud Boys in yer name!!
more excuses from republican congressman roy blunt. trump has really painted house republicans into a corner...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unemployment_in_the_United_States From Jan 1948 to Sept 2020 the avg rate has been 5.8% Nothing abnormal about 6.7%
the less-than-informed PGab is all confused, all mixed up. the period from 1848 to Sep 2020 spans many business cycles and presidencies let's just focus on Trump and his predecessor since 2009 over this recent 12-yr period, the unemployment has been trending down to the low 5/hi 4% Trump inherited a sound economy, a growing GDP and low 5% unemployment like everything else he inherited, the trust fund baby F***** it up the economy is stalling and unemployment has increased by 24-30% an ABNORMALLY HUGE increase from low 5% to 6.7% fwiw From Jan 1948 to Sept 2020, no POTUS (other than inept Trump) has seen the unemployment rate increased by 25-30% during his tenure
Its not 1848, its 1948. We all know covid increased the unemployment rate. Dont know why you're rehashing that. The rate Trump inherited was unusually low and some economists would argue too low as there needs to be some unemployment flexibility for economic expansion Thats no justification for the increase just mpre support the 6.7 isn't abnormal and doesn't require stimulus
you intentionally ignore the billion $ elephant in the room, Trump's incompetence has increased the unemployment rate
That doesn't justify overspending to fix a rate that isn't that that bad. The rate was 14% when the first stimulus was passed
How soon we forget. When the first stimulus was passed everything was closed. Only essential retailers were open. We definitely could see a closure of businesses again as we are experiencing worse rates of infection than the rates in the spring but until then stimulus isn't justified
