This post was meant as a response to @IBTL 's last post

Trump has extended the deaths virus with incompetence but the employment rate would have skyrocketed regardless because a shut down was necessary

Therefore blaming the unemployment is ridiculous especially want to shutdown forever ever and ever. Blaming the unemployment on him is a not a winning strategy

This is dumb and clearly due to the pandemic as we see in every country globally. Don't waste time on useless arguments then blame Trump, it pushes sensible people to voting for Trump again.plenty of REAL arguments to be made

Biden has the right idea with raising the corporate tax... 21% is too low and never trickles back to the people. I'd keep it in the 30's always.... 28% is still too low and they can't justify moving countries at 30-35%.
Higher taxes on people making above 400k , rub middle class folk the wrong way. Many dream about making that much, so could deter them. I'd raise it up to the millions, because quite frankly, I don't think the best doctors , architects who build safe bridges and buildings etc. should be taxed more.
This shrinks the GDP but GDP is not a tool to measure a country's prosperity. Widening income gap leads to more and more problems.

How much are people here receiving for unemployment? $600/week is too high.
Would put evictions on hold for 2020 along with mortgage payments.
The banks will have to slow down for a short time - this is good.

The $600 plus is over normal benefits but thats over with. Unemployment depends on your income the 12 months before you receive it.

Also its based on the total amount so if you barely worked in those 12 months and didn't make much you can get very little, there's no minimum

I posted this in a thread complaining about Republicans not coming together with Democrats for another stimulus. When the thread was started i said both parties seemed to not wanna do another stimulus

This came out Thursday about the deficit. Its projected to equal the total GDP.

Your thoughts on bringing down the deficit? A progressive estate tax , atleast 48% tax on those who earn more than $10 million a year (how many would move?) and higher rates on those earning more than $800k a year. Don't want to tax doctors more and a lot of them earn 500-600 a year.

The virus hit all countries, but none of them are doing this poorly. They seemed to have an actual plan.So you can blame the job loses on him. He called it a hoax, then didn't implement any sort of mask order. He knew about the virus coming in at the end of January, but didn't have ppe.

Who cares? He did more to stimulate short term jobs. Not that I agree with any of this in the long term, but are you looking for solutions or looking for outrage? How would you deal with economic windfall of the virus and most importantly, how would you go about reopening businesses differently? Stop wasting time blaming everyone but China for the China virus. The US is a country like no other when it comes to traffic inflow and mobility, the wheels were in motion well before China decided to release their news publicly. And unfortunately, their death toll is nowhere near what you think it is.

Make a mask mandate. Had a 3 week china style lockdown. Stop all air travel. Started testing sooner. Use tests from other countries.

China has more people and is denser than the us. So is south Korea. Even if you believe china is lying about their numbers it's still 10x better than the us.
