Who wants a helping of crow? I’ll admit I was second guessing continuing to play Maldy. I thought this series would Go 5. The Twins would be in yesterday and the Stros today. I thought the Target Field crowd would Inspire the Twins. Who next wants a helping of deep fried crow? Tired of Abreu? Want Dusty fired?
Fans had a right to be frustrated when things weren't going our way. But now that we won, lets be happy that we advanced, and enjoy another great postseason run.
I always believed in Abreu, I always thought playoff Dusty was good. Maldy still sucks on offense. I was just worried about our rotation. Lots question marks other than Verlander. Urquidy and Javier came through in the clutch and our top relievers have been damn strong. We still need Framber to get his head out of his ass and pitching with be even more important against Arlington. They have the bats to totally punish mistakes.
Nobody gives you credit when you’re right. That’s why you don't have to eat crow when you’re wrong. The people that offer no opinions or predictions, and just cherry pick fights after results are in, are the lamest posters of all. A sports fan forum is never going to be 100% positive. If it was, what would be the fun in that? Also, eating crow is delicious if it’s because the Astros did something good. Not hard at all and it’s actually the desired outcome. Duh.
Of course we are all thrilled the Astros won, but winning doesn’t make every decision correct. What a lame thread.
Nobody who posts in this thread will know more about pitching and hitting than Correa. Go listen to his post game interview talking about Maldy and remind yourself you suck at baseball.
What did you think of his quotes that he knew what pitch was coming in game 2? Correa is good friends with Maldy. He implicitly insulted Maldy's pitch calling then, and he's pumping him up now. Go listen again and remind yourself you suck at understanding people. P.S. The list of players across sports who "know more than anyone else about their sport" but are horrible evaluators is a mile long.
Dusty shouldn't be managing a major league team. Diaz still needs to start or play more. Abreu has been great, so I'll eat some crow on that.
I will admit there were times this season when I didnt think it would be the Astros’ year. And there were times I truly worried if Jose Abreu was done as a player. But generally I kept the faith, even on Abreu.
Duster still has time to screw the pooch. There's no Click keeping him in check. Happy the Stros are winning, but Duster is still the manager.
We were so lucky to make the playoffs. I still would prefer Diaz starting at catcher. I still want Dusty gone. I'm glad Brantley & Abreu are finally paying off after being complete wastes of $30M+ this year up until now.
This. The Astros even with Maldy catching are easily the best team in the AL with their current roster/health, and likely will be favored in every postseason series they play. I don't think the Astros have faced a better team in the postseason since at least 2020 (edit: Minnesota was slightly favored in 2020). Even in 2020, the Astros roster was too thin for the regular season, but had a really good roster for postseason play.
I need to eat the Toothpick. The confidence that Dusty has is unbeilievable. He told before the chamgagne popped, he was doing the World Series speech and with Maldy helping, pointed towards JV to give the celebration speech. Then JV gave one of the best celebrating moments in Houston..... wasn't here for he grind, but happy to be here..... on 7.
