Wake up, wake up, wake up it's the 1st of the month To get up, get up, get up so cash your checks and get up.
There's a vast number of hip hop subgenres and plenty rappers to fill them, and it's because there are too many to pay attention to that less stand out. 90's hip hop was bottle necked, so each rapper in each style stood out more.
^ Life is, too short. Life is to some people unbearable... committing suicide and that's terrible. Was it much too much or nothing' big? If you live my life, you'd be fighting to live. Life is to me my main asset. I'd be doing all right and keep it just like that, chill out at the house and pump that bass. I'm trying to get rich as I rock the place! Everybody's got that same old dream: to have big money and fancy things, drive a brand new Benz, keep your bank right here. Never hear me stutter once because I talk real clear. It's on you, homeboy, what you gonna do? You can take my advice and start working, dude. Or you can close your ears... and run your mouth... and one day, T-Dub, you'll soon find out. Life is... too short.
I've been trying to classify the rap albums in my library by sub-genre but it's been pretty difficult. Focusing on style instead of lyrical content or location. Also trying to keep the categories as general and distinct as possible. So far I've come up with: General (mainstream Rap or anything that I have difficulty fitting in the categories below, kind of middle of the road) - Run DMC, LL Cool J, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar Hardcore - Public Enemy, Wu-Tang Alternative - De la Soul, Tribe Called Quest, Roots Gangsta - Dre, 2Pac Experimental - Dr. Octagon, El-P, Aesop Rock I feel like I may need to split "General Rap" into more categories, but it's tough.

Good fill-ins there. Can definitely say that there's MORE genres NOW, and they branch off into all kinds of windy directions, and get into some way DEEP sh** lol. But that the early/mid 90's there was more "mainstream" variety simply cuz everything was all new and fresh at the time. Was just saying how early 90's offered the "pioneering" efforts to come through. It gets credit for being "first". And yeah now the market its definitely oversaturated, and also people have kind of "settled in" on certain things they want to hear (Some people say the "industry" is doing that but its that whole chicken/egg thing of does the industry set the trends or do the listeners) And to be correct, no there was NOT TOO much mainstream acceptance of "chicano"/multi-ethnic then. I'm admittedly a little biased but I HATE revisionist history. Again its just saying how early 90's offered the first platform for rappers like Cyprus Hill to break through, when they didnt before. (No people like Gerardo "Rico Suave" don't count.) What I meant by "multi-ethnic" was NON-Black/white rappers. Definitely from late 90's to now its been WHITE rappers coming up. If you wanted to count reggaeton people like Pitbull, that can kinda count in the "multi-ethnic" for now. MIA counts, so its kinda relative
