this is how i see it, all the main attractions the lakers have(kobe, gasol, nash, mwp) dont really have much left in the tank, houston right now looks like they are going to get only better in the next seasons coming up so if he has any common sense he would want to sign to houston, my only worry would be what would happen to asik, the dude's game does have some flaws but he has heart, he does not complain, you do not need to ask him for anything because he gives it his all everynight, dwight on the other hand does not bring that to the table
i dont think dwight would fill our pf needs, we need someone who can spread the floor a bit and makes some shots, thats how this team plays, but idk, i cant see the rockets playing asik and howard at starting pf/c, one would have to take the bench or get traded
All the players say their ultimate goal is to win a ring blah blah blah. BUT NO ONE WILL SAY NO TO $30 MILLION DOLLARS. [/thread]
Lebron James got paid about $20m less, but his endorsements went up $10m p/a by virtue of winning a ring. There is method to the madness of saying the goal is to "win a ring".
Up until this year,I didt think the rockes had any chance at howard, but with the guys they have andthe coach, they have a great shot. I mean, the slander about howard in this thread is crazy. He's the best center in the league by a long shot. His addition to the rockets will catapult them to a top 3 seed even wth the subtractions. Contrary to what peopl think,I think winning and legacy is very important to him. Much like ny,la ain't for everyone. Playing with kobe is hard as we've seen throughout the years. In houston he can be the man without having all the pressures of being the man. The pace and spacing isideal for him to put up a monster season. I would love the rockets chances with harden-parson-howard base.
completely agree. Character or not, you TAKE DH. I mean ffs, its not like Harden's demeanor is something to brag about. THe guy is onl 27 too btw.
He needs Houston, I hope he sees that. He doesn't mess w/ Kobe's personality, with this team he can be "the man" while really playing a sidekick role. Harden doesn't seem to care being co-captains so to speak. He isn't good in LA's spotlight, Houston is a lot like Orlando where Dwight shined, the difference is he'll have Morey instead of Otis Smith, which will actually give him a team.
If he's after guaranteed money, then yes. But when you factor in the taxes in California plus the fact that if healthy, he'll easily get another fat contract when he's 31 and still in his prime, suddenly that extra 30 million doesn't seem like such a big deal.
"I hope I have the chance to make it up to you"? The Lakers have had the offer in front of him for months and he HASN'T signed it. How do you make up QUITTING on your team?
If he were smart, he'd stay put in Los Angeles, it's where he gets the highest possible salary and endorsements. The only other place where he will get a decent amount of endorsements are in NY/Brooklyn. Really, the Lakers will be mediocre to just decent for a couple of seasons until Gasol and Kobe are off the books. As weird as it sounds, the Lakers should almost go into the NFL mode and amnesty Kobe, while packaging Gasol off on a struggling franchise for younger, versatile, and athletic players. Though, they could hold on to Gasol and resign him for a much cheaper price, next season. Though, it would be ironic, if the Lakers amnestied Kobe, which would harken memories of the Shaq trade to Miami.
