We're not too shabby with centers here. Dream won two rings. Moses Malone got to the Finals(and then was shipped to Philly where he won a title). Ralph Sampson got to the Finals before his knees gave out. And who knows what the Rockets could've accomplished(especially in 2009) had Yao stayed healthy? Honestly, Dwight Howard's success in a Rockets uniform would be largely up to him. If he's healthy, he'll have a helluva good supporting cast around him and a bonafide complimentary superstar in Harden, so sky's the limit.
He wants to stay in LA, but he has no idea if they can put a roster out, and is feeling like they won't be able to until he's ready to retire. The money isn't really an issue, considering LA's brutal income tax (13.3%) which won't just eat into what the team could pay him, but also his endorsements as well as income from current investments....
Assumes he leaves LA, wouldn't Portland be a possible destination as well? They have cap space (requires some minor trade to clear enough for a max deal) and they have a solid core as well of Lillard and Aldridge
These tweets took away most of the optimism I had of Dwight coming to Houston. Lebron never said something like this during his free agency.
Seriously? Go listen to his press conference, which sounds like a funeral. If you guys aren't going to take that as gospel, based on the fact that it's April, then you shouldn't take this so seriously, either. Dwight is the most indecisive guy on the planet. If you hang on his every word, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. And as for "30 million reasons", unless you think there's serious risk of Dwight not getting a max contract in 2017 (at only 31 years old), that's far overplayed.
He will end up staying after having everyone in the media go through his circus once again. A better question for the Lakers is who will they amnesty?
Especially if the development of his shot, skills, footwork, leadership etc. keep skyrocketing at this rate, he won't be depending on athleticism too much by then, and might even be MORE valuable!
They'll find a trade partner for Gasol. I don't think they amnesty one of the best post players in the NBA without getting something in return. They will most likely amnesty Artest.
Wouldn't that make it even worse? If Howard wants to rebuild his image, it's going to be tough to do it in a giant market that publicizes his every move. The same market, mind you, where many have said he quit on the team and didn't get along (at least on the court) with the team's franchise player and arguably their best ever. All under a coach he openly despises. If Howard wants to rebuild his image, I think it starts with a fresh start -- away from LA.
That **** he pulled yesterday was total weak sauce. I don't want anyone that mentally soft on our team. Lets just get a good 4 to play next to Asik.
Exactly. All these other "reasons" why he'll pick somewhere else, like not liking D'Antoni, etc etc, at the end of the day he'll choose the money.
