klay and barnes are two good prospects, assuming warriors still have both of them.

I'm getting really nervous now. The Lakers getting Bogut's $14 million expiring contract fits in there plans for the summer of 2014. Plus, they'll have a decent center for a year and probably Barnes or Thompson. They couldn't find a sign-and-trade deal better than that. Only thing stopping that is Dwight's desire to sign else where, or the Laker's unwillingness to help a division rival.

Lakers can prevent making another superteam, and they avoid tax hell.

I've had a bad feeling the past couple of days that Dwight was using the Rockets as a stalking horse to scare the Lakers into doing a S&T with GS so they could get something out of Dwight leaving. This Iggy deal almost confirms it. Now the Lakers can take Bogut's expiring deal and a young player (Klay or Barnes maybe?) so they can still clear cap space for next off season and Howard gets to go play with GS.

However, with Iggy and Curry there, how many shots is Howard going to get? They can blow smoke all they want, but when push comes to shove Curry's going to be the man for them. He's going to be a more fragile version of Harden. Howard's going to have to survive off a steady diet of put back and P&R's. Plus, if Klay goes to the Lakers and with Rush going to Utah, what makes the Warriors any more appealing than the Rockets? They'll have Curry, Iggy, and....?

Finally, if the Rockets want to do a S&T for Smith, can they not announce it until the 10th when contracts can be signed, or can they announce it immediately in hopes of swaying Howard? I'm curious about that.

They got LBJ before they traded away Michael Beasley. And LeBron/Bosh never wanted to play in NY, they had planned to play in Miami with D.Wade long before being free agents.

Keep in mind that the original Warriors offer to the Lakers was Barnes/Klay+#1 pick(along with Bogut's salary). Now that they've given up multiple picks to the Jazz, what will the Lakers ask for? 1st rounder in 2020 draft? Of course not. And Warriors have basically given up all their assets. But let's suppose the Lakers ask for Draymond Green and Ezli, two cheap role players. What do the Warriors have left? Howard, Lee, Iggy, Klay/Barnes, Curry, minimum for the everyone else, and no future draft picks.

While the Rockets still have tradeable assets and all their future picks. Oh, and Howard makes more money in Houston because of the lack of taxes and lower cost of living.

Of course, Dwight Howard can be illogical or doesn't give a damn about actual winning. But then we're competing with the Lakers, not the Warriors.
