Everything that comes out seems to point toward Dwight wanting to win first and foremost. I'm not worried about this lifestyle bs.

I'm going to check back later today. I can't deal with this constant refreshing when we know nothing is going to be decided.

I said outside of the natural geography.

I also don't know anyone who thinks living in California and paying 13% more in taxes plus another 15-25% more on everything else is worth it.

San Diego and La joya is balling so is Malibu but LA sucks. California and Oregon are great places if you are broke not if you have money

There are a few factors at play here, primarily the fact that there is an entire side of a basketball operation we NEVER hear from.

A friend of mine worked in the Spurs accounting department for years and the spurs at least, and probably most every team without an infinite revenue stream (LA/NY) have targets for %s of player salaries regardless of cap ramifications.

It certainly goes into the calculus, but we never hear from the business or operations people.

The old saying goes "This is a business," isn't a lie. Most owners are in it to make money as would you, me or most other people.

And the reason we were able to steal Lin or Asik was not the cap hit, but the above luxury tax penalties --- money out of an owners pockets.

if I was him...I would come to houston, and if I didnt like force my way to brooklyn lol.

there is always that option still.

I doubt LA will be cooperative.

No one cares if you've never been to LA and wouldn't want to live there.

"LA is a dump" is a false concept that doesn't affect multimillionaires.

Lol "outside of Hollywood offers little"

I guess outside the city wouldn't be so bad. Actually plan on visiting LA in the not too distant future since I now have a friend living out there.

It just might be too much for a country boy.

I agree that for Dwight, it may really not be a basketball decision. If it's not about basketball, then I don't want him.

As far as what I have in bold type, does it really matter when you are a multi-millionaire? He can go wherever he likes whenever he likes.

I'll chime in on the city talk...

My sister, along with my entire dad's side of the family, live in LA.
My brother in law lives in SD.
My wife's family lives in SF/San Jose.

I've spent quite a bit of time in every city...Ive spent more time in LA than any of the other 3.

LA is, by far, the worst of the 3 locations...the overwhelming majority of that city is pure crap. The traffic is the worst I have ever experienced. Sure, Dwight can live in a great neighborhood and eat some great food...but he can do that in River Oaks as well. However, if Dwight is a fan of the paparazzi, then that's another edge that LA has over Houston.

Plus, when Houston weather starts sucking, it's not even basketball season, so Dwight can spend his summers wherever he likes. During the NBA season, Houston weather can compete with any city.

no you said the natural geography offers little

    HUGE difference

the natural geography and weather here are HUGE factors for living here.

If LA is such a crap place to be - why are athletes constantly wanting to be here?

You must have just seen like one part of LA - its so huge and there is so much to do and see - I am still finding new spots all the time.

LA itself is dirty AF!!! Around LA (Beverly Hills if you're rich) plus the Beach Cities like Malibu, Hermosa, Redondo) is Beautiful. Then you have parts of Orange County, San Diego. Cali is a beautiful State. I was born n raised right outside of Houston but I am not gonna lie, I love it out here..... Dwight isn't leaving Cali cause he hates living here I can promise you that

The Rockets don't need a third superstar with this team. There is a such thing as overkill.

I saw it last night on NBATv, it was either Isiah Thomas or David Aldridge(was dozing off by while watching)

its a very accurate statement...to most Laker fans and alot of superstar lovers Kobe can do no wrong.

As long as he (Howard) comes here and puts his head down and plays hard, he will be adored by a majority of the Rockets fanbase. That is all we ask of a player....work hard and focus on winning.

    1) best opportunities when playing? - not when kobe is around
post playing career- maybe true but you have two former rockets on TNTs crew and only 1 former Laker

    2) oh the same fans that want him to get his ass out of town and have blamed him to no end for last season

    3) if dwight is into older white women I am sure the Rockets can round up a few just for that

Was thinking about this the other day.

Is it LA they come for, or is it to play with Kobe?

If Howard leaves, and Kobe is a shell of his former self in two years and they strike out on the Miami three.....just how much appeal will LA *really* have?

They have always been able to get good to great FA players because of other players they already had on their roster....what happens when there isnt a dominant player to come play with? Are they gonna just hope to hit it big in the lottery in the near future?
