Since I am a die hard Roxs fan to me he is the greatest player ever...now of course i am biased and we all know MJ holds that title but I grew up on Hakeem and he was so fun to watch......I miss him too and I wish he was part of this organization in some way !!
what an awesome video. yao has great footwork and he's done some pretty dream-like moves in the past. i think m_cable made the dream/yao video that showed their similar shots. he doesn't have dreams quickness but he can make up for some of that with his height. so i was thinking that dream working with yao would have zero effect but ultimately just be a really cool experience. after watching the video, i've changed my mind. if hakeem could get a couple more of these little sessions in, it could be hugely beneficial. people are down on the guy because of the playoffs but yao was clearly still out of shape/injured. when he is healthy, he's already the most dominant post player in the league. he was on his way to averaging 27+ ppg, little tips and tricks here and there can really push him over the top. i still think he has 30+ ppg in him at some point in his career.
what a great video. It's so nice to see Hakeem and Yao finally working together. I think our lost to Utah on Game 7 made Hakeem want to teach Yao. I mean he was at the game. New start, new coach, bye bye Ewing, bye bye Van Gundy! Give Hakeem a contract Les!
LOL at Hakeem telling reporters (paraphrasing) that the coach really doesn't matter as long as Yao dominates. The two things that stood out were Dream telling Yao to get his mind right and destroy, and to try to play defense like Eaton. Has no one mentioned these things to Yao before though????
i think JVG has. but some of yao's limitations physically makes it tough, esp. on defense. i mean, u can't expect him to be as mobile as dream and can block shots on both sides of the lane if need be. as for footwork, u seriously can't expect him to be on the level of dream, who arguably has the best footwork of all big men of all time. but yao can be improved w/ a more aggressive mentality that hakeem is teaching, but everyone has been telling that to him. and he's improving at that. all i know is hakeem better make yao get better position. that's all i'm asking for. i never expect him to be as good as dream but it's not possible. but he can be the best post up big man of this league.
i'm sure dream's teaching him position and footwork. but i dont know if you can teach this. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/iGHBKp8wF3A"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/iGHBKp8wF3A" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
that's why he's arguably a top 4 center and arguably the most skilled big man of all time. most of today's big man are fairly one dimensional (outside of duncan). they either play in the post (yao) or play in the outside (or oriented around there) or play fast break only (amare) dream was just ridiculous. he could play for this houston team in the halfcourt. or he can play in the phoenix style offense. o well, i'll take whatever he can give yao
The replay shows that Dream started at half court with Strickland getting a running start about 7-10ft ahead of Dream. Dream from a dead start goes from half court and takes off from the bottom of the circle near the free throw line to block the shot. WOW!
one thing yao needs to do is learn to run on the balls of his feet. lighter steps, less wear and tear, and quicker.
uh u can't learn that. yao is slightly quicker than deke dude. that's what u get for being 7'6. but he's quicker than most guys who ever played at 7'6 so that's good.

^^^^ hahaha, that was the best highlight they could get of robinson on hakeem? plus hakeem was falling down as he was taking an off-balanced shot. got love how delusional sp*rs fans are.
wow! i haven't been on clutchfans in a couple wks since the utah series and i already came back to houston and i'm back here in nigeria, but i got online and i'm glad i did!! i love the photos and video of hakeem with yao!!!!!!!!! hakeem's dream shake is still amazing and i will never forget what he did to robinson in the 95 playoffs the day david was awarded regular season MVP. off to work now........later!
1. that was the only highlight ever for Robinson, blocking Dream on an off balance shot. 2. Has to be a Spurs fan to put the 90s techno music in an NBA video.
yes YAO stop being a big stiff and dominate... Mario Lemuiex arguably the 2nd best player in NHL history credits his winning of two straight NHL championships… to the simple fact that he was able to see how Wayne Gretzky the best player in NHL history practiced and prepared when they played on the same team…in the Canada Russia summit series… Sometimes having someone tell you or show you....that the proper mindset is all it takes…
