agreed. the highlighted parts are what should prove the point. if today was basic. the next time should be intermediate, followed by a final advanced lesson. if yao manages to get 3 one-on-one lessons from dream, i'd be thrilled. hopefully it's more like 5-7 days like a basketball camp. the improvement seen at any good bball camp after only a week is noticable. at that's with average coaches and going-no-where players. imagine the improvement with dream as the coach for a week with yao as the player...
Topfive's pic is sure awesome, I've been laughing for 5 mins before i type this sentence. back to what i was going to say: if there is anyone needed to whip Yao' ass (or kick his ass), i hope the dream is the only one. Cheer up, yao!!
They said they both would like to do it again if schedule permits. Yay!!! Hilltopper provided the video. http://www.click2houston.com/video/13369898/index.html
exactly. ppl think yao does not have all the moves but he does. it's all about positioning for yao. 10 ft in => best scorer. out of that, average. hakeem has to give yao some advice on how to get positioning moreso than skills. and also how to intimidate on defese
Yao, do you believe that my being stronger or faster has anything to do with my muscles in this place?
Nice video. I hope that Yao thinks of Dream every time he's in the paint on defense and offense, and asks himself, "what would Dream do?" WWDD? Sounds like sign material to me. Just to throw it out there, how many times did Dream say that he was surprised how smart Yao was? If the races were flipped, there'd be all sort of inflammatory remarks coming out. Someone didn't tell Dream that you can't compliment anybody on their intelligence in America anymore.
Man......what a great day for Big Yao. Hope he's finally got it there into his head: 'You are the biggest player on the court. You need to go in and change the game. You need to be dominant.'
hell sign Olajuwon to a contract he looks to be in pretty good shape, then stick Deke and Olajuwon on the court at the same time, Now thats some interior defense haha, but they'd be so slow. Anyways its important for Yao to get some more lessons 1 lesson is just not enough to learn so he needs more to drill these things hard into is head.
Damn I love watching that video. And to hear Dream instruct Yao in some of the basics (i.e. where to put your elbows to protect the ball; and lean into the basket and don't scrunch down), it was amazing thinking of things that might be. He needs a LOT more time than 1 hour though. they said they'd both like to get more sessions, but I don't know... Love to have Dream on staff or make him a personal coach for Yao (offense is one thing, but think of what he could teach Yao on defense!!!). I get the feeling that Dream wouldn't be up for it. But Les should offer to pay whatever it takes to make it happen. got to go look at the video again -Humer
Hakeem in his drilling videos preaches about being able to keep the dribble alive which gives you options in the post. We all know hakeem was basically a guard in a center's body so while Hakeem athleticism was freakish it was his dribbling ability in the post and his footwork in the post that made him so dominant. The dribbling and the footwork is something Yao can pick up. He doesn't necessarily need to blow past his man but it will give him enough advantage to get the shot he wants. I like how Hakeem refers that Yao should watch Mark Eaton on defense. Hakeem understands that Yao won't be able to play defense like he does so he gives him someone to emulate that would be more similar to his style.
