It's kinda neat just to see them playing with eachother, but this will have virtually no impact on Yao's game.

Hakeem: You need to be more agile and have quicker lateral movement.

Yao: Oh, snaps, why didn't I think of that?

According to Fran it's just a one off session. Damn, just a photo-op.

Agreed... or as DaDa said, I hope he's learning more about Hakeem's mental approach to the game, instead of trying to replicate moves he has no chance of mastering.

Seriously... there are FAR more agile big men in the league since Olajuwon (and before Olajuwon) than Yao... how come none of them have tried to replicate Hakeem's moves? Wouldn't Amare become the complete package after a session with Hakeem?

A lot of what Hakeem was able to do simply can't be taught. Hell, a lot of his shots would be "bad shots" if they didn't find a way to go in. Hakeem did, however, have the ability to constantly ADD to his game year after year... along with approaching the game with a constant tenacity/competitiveness/hunger.

From the picture, it is still lots of things to be learned from the Dream, even some basic footworks, wishing Yao spends more time to work with the Dream.

He already was pretty profecient with the jump hook... his main problem in the playoffs was getting deep enough in the post to be able to execute it.

"Today, it is only about some basic footwork and some exchange of low post drills/techniques; he is a quick learner and he comprehended fast. " Hakeem The Dream Olajuwon added. "Yao Ming was making progress on every of his past seasons. And his progress this past season is even more obvious. I firmly trust that he will still be making big progress in the new season."

It sounds like Hakeem is planning for more training sessions. Hopefully.

Man this is a great day. I hope they get to work out more this week. Does anyone know how many days is Olajuwon going to work out Yao?
