Damn, I think Machida was certainly winning that round. Two take downs, two big knees. And then he gets half clipped on the side of the head and goes down. Kind of a let down of a fight.
it looked like he got hit in the temple and thats what staggerd him. Shogun's brutal ground pound is what really sealed the deal.
Got clipped on the temple, then hit solidly on the temple again when he was dropped. He got hit a few times in earlier exchanges by Shogun's jab too. Seems like a quick jab puts Machida in trouble. I think Machida realized he couldn't go on getting leg kicked like in the first fight and tried to alter his fighting style completely by becoming a wrestler. It was working out but its obvious it exposed his defense more than with his usual style.
Yea that's his style, saying that he runs away is a little too extreme, but his goal is to take as little damage as possible which is why he's always back pedaling and circling away. I don't like it, but he's really good at it so more power to him. His facial expressions are pretty funny when he does get tagged though
He looks even funnier when he's Knocked Out. Piss on that Machida. You know Rua is getting backdoor sushi tonight after that win.
Not to take anything away from Shogun, but it will be interesting to see who he fights next. I think Shogun's style works well against Machida, who's(Machida) style would probably do well against most guys in his weight. It'll be interesting to see how the next opponent does against Shogun. As for Lyoto, everybody loses....it will interesting as well to see how he bounces back....and against who.
With it being 1-1 (kind of) shouldn't we expect a third fight between the two before the eventual winner fights Rampage or Evans? It Seems logical, no?
That's harsh, he only did what the rest of the world wanted to do. Seriously though, it was completely classless no matter how big a douche Koschek is. Dana taking this line with Daley will hopefully prevent others from losing their cool and maybe UFC can avoid the post fight melees like we have seen in boxing and a couple weeks ago on that other mma broadcast. I have to believe Dana is still looking hard for the big time network deal that would completely mainstream the sport and stuff like what Daley did can not be tolerated.
It's the winner of Rampage/Evans that gets to challenge Shogun next. Shogun gave Rampage a pretty bad beat down back in Pride. I hope Rampage can beat Evans cause I like him but I don't know if he can beat Evans. Rua should remain champ for a while as long as he stays focused and stays healthy. I honestly thought Rua would have become UFC Champion a lot sooner when I heard he was first coming to the UFC.
Yea it would, and it still might happen but the fact that this fight ended so quickly and wasn't a close, go the distance fight as the first one was makes options for who Shogun gets more wide open.
Machida doesn't deserve an immediate rematch. He needs to earn it. I'll look forward to Shogun/Rampage
