i wish people would stop putting so much faith into steve francis. he's all washed up now and probably will never revert back to anything that resembles his former self.

on a seperate note. i love landry, but not a full mle's worth. i think he's worth at most 3mil for the time being.

I kinda agree with you about landry vs scola. I think landry has the higher ceiling between the 2. Scola has the experience right now and landry has the balky knee. That's kinda my point is they're redundant. Neither can back up center because neither is big enough and neither is a shot blocker. Really, neither are good defenders either. So the Rox have to carry extra people to make up for them. They have a roster spot for hayes because he's a better rebounder and they play deke because he's the shotblocker. When I mentioned Turiaf its because he's a shotblocker and big enough to back up the 4/5 spot. That's all I was trying to say. Its kinda like cleaning up the roster. When u have no versitility on your team, u take up roster spots for players that are specialist. DD has brought up Mihm. Mihm is a guy that can play both if he can avoid the injury bug. It seemed like Yao played better when he had a Cato next to him. If u can get a guy like that's similar in physical skill with a little more basketball skill, u could rid the team of chuck hayes and really limit deke.

I hope you're right and stranger things have happened, but no way do I risk losing a valuable cog on our team on the highly unlikely gamble that Maggette or Artest will sign for the mle.

That's the most unrealistic aspect of the scenario suggested above?

Did you read the thread? It wasn't about trading them away, it was about how the draft and what we get from it may affect Landry's contract.

I just can't see giving Landry the money everyone is projecting him to get. I say go Big this draft, for the simple reason that this is where the most talent projects at our pick. Use the MLE to chase a wing player. Don't get me wrong, I love Landry's energy he brings. BUT if he is injured and can't dunk, there really isn't much he does for us after that. Draft a guy thats 6'9 /6'10 and will do the same things he does.

Ready to see this thing shake down!!

I hope so to but this is the real world and not fantasy. Battier won't land you Mayo no way no how (I'm including the 25th pick in the trade). To get Mayo you would to get to the third or fourth pick. Battier isn't going to jump you 21-22 spots in the second round.

If we trade for Artest, Battier is the likely one to be the key in the deal. His defense would replace Artest's and he can score 10+ a.k.a. be a sufficable starter for the Kings. If Landry (remember I'm a Purdue fan aswell) wants too much money then I wouldn't mind a sign and trade with Landry/Battier for Artest. A lineup of Rafer, TMac, Artest, Scola, Yao is phenomenal. Three guys who can score 20 a night, and two more that score 13-14 a night. Yao is 10+ rebound guy and TMac, Artest, and Scola are all 6-8 rebound guys. Rafer, Tmac and Artest are all capable of moving the ball although obviously Tmac and Rafer are much better. Scola and Yao play good interior defense, Rafer plays good defense on other PG's, and Artest can take the top wing player each game allowing Tmac to worry about the offense more. The only problem would be our bench would be very weak. Brooks as backup point (or Francis) is ok but nothing to sniff at, Head at SG is awful, Harris at SF is below average but still ok, Hayes is a pretty good backup PF (and Novak can provide a key basket or two a game), and ???? at center (if Deke signs then we will be ok otherwise I see us drafting a center because Woods doesn't cut it).

Give up on Landry because he might cost a little more than expected (emphasis on might), so that we can hope for a magical amazing super deal that lands us a Corey Maggette or Ron Artest signing with the Rockets for the MLE? Yeah, that's being rational. Btw, Stro signing for the MLE is not the same as Maggette signing up for the MLE. Why? Stro was all 'what-ifs' while Maggette is all 'been there, done that'.

Well with Arthur, Landry might now be a S&T chip......I said to watch out for it.....

Dang, I hope we keep Landry, but he has some value in the league, maybe we can upgrade our wings or PG situation by trading him.

Or they use Arthur as leverage as was discussed in this thread.

    ;)

Not going to happen. Batum will be Splitter'ized. Left in Europe for 2-3 years to ripen. Means that Landry has some negotiating room for his salary.

We just picked up Dorsey as well....that is TWO more PFs......Landry's negotiation power just dried up.

I'm kinda pissed if this is why the rockets are picking up power forwards because Landry has earned his money and his numbers would probably be more inflated if he got more pt... good way to drive players away from a city with a bad rep.

What if Landry brings us Hinrich? Or Billups? As long as the team gets better....I am all ok with it.

Landry stays. Morey has a tradition of drafting the best players available. They are trade chips for later. Last year remember we had too many guards.
