If Luther can be effective playing only 5-15 mins/game, maybe keep him. But he's down on the totem pole now.
im a head fan..i think he can be a major contributor to this team..he is clutch...so what he had a bad playoffs...hes going to get better..i say we keep him..it might come back to haunt us if we do trade this man
Do not trade him. We have plenty of other guys who have higher trade value than luther. He is still on his rookie contract is athletic and can shoot. His first 2 years he has hit a wall shooting. Last year it came later than his rookie year. If you check the stats he was choking well before the playoffs.
we should be shopping the combo deal of: rafer sura snyder or head not sure which of the last two i'd rather part with...
It will be a huge mistake to trade away Luther Head before we get a chance to see what he can do in an Adelman type system.
I agreed. At one point during the regular season, Head was like Peja knocking down 3 automatically. Head and Rafer has molded themselves into great outside shooters under Jeff Van Gundy but if i have to let one go ...i'll be Rafer...Head is a better shooter than Rafer. But damm...you know what...i see Rafer thrive under Adelman's offense though....i mean he's so quick moving up the court with the ball and a master at ballhandling...he's the quickest or one of the quickest guys in the NBA and we need that type of player to do fastbreak and pass to guys for easy layups or dunks. That's the good thing about Rafer...the bad thing is that he's undersized and not good at finish off when he penetrate to the rim. I really dunno if we should keep him or not...because his ability to thrive under Adelman is just so tempting...i have no doubt he fit in Adelman's fast breaking offense.
Luther Head is extremely unlikely to be in a trade that the fans won't like. He makes so little money and has such a limited skillset that he can only leave as part of a package. Since the Rockets are so overloaded right now, we'd very much welcome a 2 or 3 for 1 trade to get us a better player. I think we should keep either him or Alston, but no need for both. And Alston is more likely to be trade bait.
You should have named this "The Don't 69 Thread" And that, folks, shall mark my first and last Head joke.
In the previous season there are many times when Luther helped us won the game. So he did bad in the playoffs, but it's afterall his first experience. Just think about his improvements in his second professional year. Please don't trade Luther Head. He will be the top 5 three pointers in the league.
Agree with the thread starter. Luther is still *the* clutchest and deadliest shooter on this team, and it's not even close. His midrange game is improving and he's the type of player I see who could seriously thrive in Adelman's offense. If you're going to trade for one more big, use the guy who *has* been marginalized: Rafer Alston. Luther Head is an asset. You don't just give away your assets casually to fill a minor need.
if head's on the roster come opening day, that's just fine. but at the end of the day, he's a short matt bullard. he's a poor dribbler, passer, and decision maker, which wouldn't be an issue if he wasn't 6'2". he has athleticism but uses it so rarely that it might as well be non-existent. it might be wise to have a 3-point shooter of his caliber on the team - see bullard, kerr, paxson, etc. but i don't even think he's at that level. there's not playing time for him and rafer, possibly not even both. at this point i'm not sure whose more valuable to the team, either. geez it'd be so much easier if we knew how ready aaron brooks really is.
I agree, don't trade Head. This man has been our 4th quarter beast who's hit a ridiculous amount of dagger 3s for us. He's been clutch ever since he's been here except for the utah playoff series.
I hope we keep him too. I'd rather seen Houston move Alston, Lucas, Snyder, Reed, and Sura to clear space on the roster.
funny thing is brooks might turn out to be another head, ie strong 3p shooter, more suited to sg, but undersized.
