Slovenia vs Lithuania starts NOW

 

This already feels like it will be a heated matchup. It will eb interesting to see how DMo responds.

So far he stupidly tried to take a man off the dribble from the arc (left wing) and got stuffed by the same guy.

He also appeared to be caught in no man's land when his defensive rotations weren't quick enough. Luckily his length was enough to disrupt the shot.

 

JV is dominating while DMo looks totally lost on defense. Very reminiscent of his games with us where he tried to do too much.

 

DMo finally had a good curl to the hoop and nailed it off the glass. Unfortunately on the subsequent possession, Gogi pushed the break and ended up getting fouled. Not totally his fault, but it really looks like the game is too fast for him. DMo taken out with 2 min left in the 1st (this is typical for him this tourney).

 

Back in w/ JV 5min left in the half. Coach runs a play to get him a postup attempt. He does a good job of sealing his man and is fouled before the shot.

Good attempt off a screen and roll, but missed off the rim. It's clear that the coach is trying to get him involved to slow down the pace and prevent Slovenian fastbreak.

Out of the timeout, JV has continued his dominance while DMo has once against slipped into the background. The pace simply seems too fast for him.

edit: and of course DMo gets taken out in favor of a better defender. Makes no difference to the Slovenes as Gogi is too much

 

The gameplan by Lithuania is just awful, they are already a team with terrible guard play, but having a guard-centric gameplan against a team like Slovenia should be unacceptable.

 

Lithuania doubled down on their terrible strategy by benching DMo and Valanciunas for all of the 3rd quarter so far and the result is the Slovenian lead ballooning to 9.

 

Poor poor defensive recognition by DMo as he doesn't know who he is supposed to cover, but he redeems himself on the next possession by nailing the corner trey

 

DMo goes back in and the deficit is cut from 12 to 7.

 

Good defensive rotation by DMo on a Dragic pick and pop to prevent the trey to end the 3rd.

We should see more DMo now as JV has picked up his 3rd foul (foul out in FIBA with 5).

 

Only 4 min left in the game and the Lithuanian coach has decided to stick with the twins instead of the twin towers. Result is a tie game!

 

Who the hell are these twin scrubs wtf, GET FKING DMO BACK IN.

 

This is the main difference between FIBA and the NBA. The best teams would rather play their most experienced and veteran players rather than the best talents. They know how to take advantage of the rules and environment, young guys don't
