Wafer should be playing monster minutes right now. He obviously is one of the most, if not the most, athletic member of this team. This is the perfect time to get him the confidence and experience he needs to become a consistent NBA player. If not now, when? There is no need for Luther to ever take any of Wafer's minutes, period. We already know what Luther is. Let's find out now, before T-Mac is back, what Wafer can become.
I totally agree with the original post. Head is a one dimensional player, but if he had a brain, he could be so much more. Head, is one of the dumbest basketball players in the league, right up there with a stromile swift.
I think Wafer is more decisive and plays with more confidence than Head. Wafer doesn't over think. It's just pass, shoot, or attack. No hesitation. If it wasn't the perfect thing to do right then doesn't matter he's just aggressive about it. Any time I see Luther drive he looks like he's second guessing the decision and looking for a way out of it.
I don't think it's fair to say that the Rockets went on that run as a result of Wafer's subbing. If anything, credit needs to be given to the Rockets (esp. Ron Artest) for turning up the heat and taking care of business. I agree with the OP's initial post, though. Despite going 1-9, his ability to attack the basket and get to the FT line was great to see. Head's a good cutter, but he can't attack the basket and finish how Wafer can. At this point, Head is expendable. Wafer can do everything he can, but better.
I didn't watch the game, but the Rockets were -12 with Wafer on the floor last night so it would seem that "all the other things" he was bringing to the table weren't doing much good. Still better than Head's -27 against Memphis the previous night, though.
I can't believe no one replied to this. I think Kim made the best point by saying Luther should juz stick with being one-dimensional. I think we've seen too many horrible plays by luther head that his positives cannot be recalled. I remember back in his rookie and sophomore year, when he was phenomenal in terms of our expectations of him and he played great sticking with juz catch and shoot in the JVG system. He's definitely trying way too much.
I still think Head's problem is his decision-making. He can cut and drive the basket as well as anyone. His problem comes when he needs to decide to go to the rim, pull up, pass, etc. His decision-making is pretry darn bad. Both Wafer and Head play decent D. Wafer happens to have some height on Head though. I'm a pro-Head guy, but Wafer has shown some good things so far. The verdict is still out on the guy, but I like what I see so far.
Biggest difference....SIZE! i think the fans are tired of undersized two-guard who get abused in the playoffs.... Head should not be in the league!
Von wafer is very aggressive and that's what I like about him. He doesn’t wait to see what the defense is going to do; he drives with aggression as soon as the ball touches his fingers. If we groom him he will become a beast I can see it.
