I've told this story a few times. I found ClutchFans during the Spring before the Francis deal, looking for some stuff about the Rockets. What followed was the Summer of The Mall Guy, and the other member (I'm blanking out on who it was!) who discovered the deal before the media knew a damn thing about it. This BBS used to have some great insiders and in the case of Francis, terrific luck. I lurked (and lurked!) until my join date, which was before we had a clue that we'd get Yao. Mango and Behad frightened me. They chewed rookies up and spit them out back in the day, or so it seemed to me at the time, so yeah, I lurked. I eventually figured out that they're both great guys. We used to be ClutchCity, of course, and the name change is a story that's not for me to tell. I miss the days when this seemed like a small, relatively close knit group full of diverse personalities. Several members that post rarely these days used to post all the time and some were hilarious, some were crazy as loons, and many were (and are) deeply knowledgable about both basketball and the Rockets. I already knew quite a lot about the Rocks, but I learned a lot about basketball from them, and a lot about other things, as well. All you folks in your tens of thousands are damned lucky to have found the best fan site on the internet. Thanks, Clutch.
wow! you mean to say a high profile signing leads to more interest in a team? you don't say! i've been a rocket fan since twin tower days, but signed up in 2002. am i a YOF? according to you i'm sure.
I remember when this site was called clutchcity and had blue as the primary color. How I became a member I do not remember...
JaVale McGee is not a failure at basketball. Some more rigorous tutelage under Hakeem and he could become the most dominant big man in the league for the next few years.
No cos Yao was Chinese. But Lin is Asian. So you got all kinds of minorities coming out of the wood works supporting Lin.
No you sound like a little b**** to me. Just cos ur short or unathletic don't try to brand a whole race of people. I hate Lin fans (and consequently Lin as a result) as much as anyone here. But you sound like a little b****.
