This movie is way too violent for me. I didn't like it at all. It made me cry and I had to close my ears most of the time because they said the F word too many times.
I've also heard it mentioned that there were skeleton plans for a sequel followed by a prequel (a la IA's trilogy). Wahlberg's quote wasn't exactly a denial. A sequel focused on him, Baldwin's agency, and an investigation into the Feds protecting Nicholson's character would make sense. I'd like it if the prequel was more focused on Matt Damon than DiCaprio. I think his was the more interesting/complex character of the two. Evan
They can't make it like IA 2 and 3 because the Departed ecompassed a lot of the points from those sequels.

My guess from the article, they are gonna have him investigating his own murder or Matt Damon, in the process he's going to find De Niro as a corrupt politician and maybe another young hotshot detective coming in that is also "corrupt", all setting up for that twist at the end. While they did incorporate a lot of IA2 in the movie, they can still do a pre-quel. Matt Damon's initial involvement with the mob wasn't exactly fleshed out (what did Jack do for him initially, why did he decide to get in the mob, perhaps some early betrayal from or against Jack). You can also build more on Di-Caprio's character (his younger days in which drove him to want to be a cop, even though half of his family was the mob).
