For now, Iverson might be couple steps ahead of Francis(Definitely not in the distribution or shooting areas), but VC is better than Iverson, in less seasons. Iverson is a scorer, period. You guys forget one thing about Iverson. He has a will to win that is the best in the NBA. The guy is a midget among giants and takes a beating night in and night out. He still rises above with 50 point nights on a consistant basis. And saying Iverson is better than Francis is not a sin like some of you act like it is. He is a better player. We have to first see Steve take over games like Iverson does to even start to compare them. Its really no comparison right now. Iverson is better. Two different players, two different styles of play. Steve plays a TEAM game, where he trys to pass-first & shoot second.. Iverson IS Philly's only offense. How many assists does he get?? Alot less than Steve, I'm sure. If Francis was in Iversons position, with the same amount of years played, he would be puttin up 50+ games also. look i can buy iverson is slightly better than francis at this point, but measuring them at the same stage in their career steve is a better all around player look im sorry we dont get to pounce on eastern conference creampuffs and when we do we eat them for lunch..also just for ur information we blew u guys out in philly and shouldve beaten u here. Wow . . . what a revelation . . . NXT3, you have truly opened my eyes. I never dreamed that Iverson might possibly be better than Francis. Especially during Allen's MVP year . . . Iverson is better than any player in the league. He's better than Steve, Payton, Shaq, anyone. Allen is one of the most amazing players ever -- at his height, to do what he does is incredible. Right now allen is better than the Franchise, but he's the sixers ONLY offense whereas Steve has Cuttino, Mo, Dream and even Mooch. Everyone here is making good points except that I do think he deserved to be MVP this season because without him his team sucks. The thing about iverson being small is not a good argument cause Steve is only like 3 inches taller. Also if anyone has the heart that iverson has it is Steve. He did him bad when we played them last and it's only his second year. I also think we should have beat them here, but both teams sucked that night. Another difference is that on a bad night for Steve he's like 5 for 15, but will still come up with about 9 assists. On the other hand if allen is on he's like 21 for 31, but on his frequent bad nights he's 5 for 31 with about 4 assists. I think the debate will be solved in a few more years, but honestly Steve is on par to be just as good if not better. BTW Does anyone remember the last time we played the sixers when Steve crossed allen over and iverson hurt his ribs. That was FRANTASTIC!!!! ------------------
We have a lot of biased posters here at clutchcity.net, and how can you blame them, you posted an "Iverson is better than Francis" post in the most popular Rocket fan site on the internet. Now, I will try to be unbiased in comparing the two, even though Franchise is my favorite player, with Vince coming in second, and you, NXT3, bashed both of them. Right now, Iverson is a couple of steps ahead of Steve, because he has been in the league longer to develop and learn the game. He has been in the league for 3 years longer than Steve has, so it isn't really fair to compare their games as of right now until they both reach the pinnacle of their careers. I guarantee you that in 2 years, Steve will be a legit MVP candidate. As of right now, Iverson has that scorer's mentality and the skill to go with that mentality that few players in this league have. Steve needs to develop a scorer's mentality like Ivy's and shoot a lot more shots. Ivy takes a LOT of bad shots as well though, which explains his low 40's shooting %, which is something I don't want Steve to learn. Iverson has the biggest heart in the league, and his will to win is incredible. At creating their own shots, Iverson is better with no doubt. At jumpshooting, they are probably equal, but at 3 pt. shooting, Steve has the edge. Steve has a better all around game than Iverson, but that is because Iverson's role on his team is to take most of his team's shots. Steve can board, dish, and dunk better than Ivy, but Ivy is a lot better in the clutch than Steve, but again that will come with experience. Also, I think VC is a better player than Ivy, as he can score just about as well as Iverson, but he has a more of an all around game and shoots a higher percentage than Iverson does. He also has a lot more upside than Iverson as well.
Almu, It's not the statement that he made, but how he said it. He comes in here as a guest of the best Rockets fan BBS anywhere & has the audacity to be arrogant about it. His statement was more of an "In your face" challenge, than an intelligent conversation about the differences in the two players. NXT3, I'll admit Iverson has the "go to" mentality that every team needs, but if I were choosing one over the other, I'd choose Francis because his game is more rounded & the potential is obvious to everyone. This series may be as good as Iverson ever gets(which ain't bad) & he's been in the league 3 years longer than Francis. Yep, I'll take Francis over Iverson anyday! ------------------
Even to Compare Iverson to Francis is saying alot about Steve. This guy has only let me repeat "Only" been in the leauge 2 seasons and already getting compared to or even Greater that Iverson, and He's in a Harder Conference, How long iverson been in the league? 6 years? and did he win rookie of the year? ------------------ When I was Little I call in a local sports show and told them the Rockets should Trade Otis Thorpe for a Lottery Pick. I love Iverson, but I would rather have Steve on my team any time. Iveerson carries his team on his will. He is spectacular to watch. But his will may not work for him or his team all the time. It is sometimes exclusive. I will say inch by inch, Iverson is much better, but in a team sport, I want francis to be on my team. I do want Iverson to be somewhere in NBA though, so that I can watch his games. ------------------

Anyone that thinks Francis is a better player than Iverson at this point needs to take off the Rocket colored glasses. I think Steve could be a better player in the near future, but right now there is nobody in the league who is as clutch and plays as hard as Iverson does. The only facet of the game that clearly favors Iverson over Francis is his steals on defensive. Offensively, Iverson scores a lot because he has carte blanche to shoot it from anywhere and he often does. His shooting percentage sucks. If Francis played two guard (and lost his basketball conscience) he could drop 30 points a game by jacking up 30 shots a night like Iverson does. Mark this: Iverson will *never* win an NBA title playing like he does now. Iverson is a less spectacular Dominque Wilkens. Francis is like Isiah Thomas with hops.
